@joee - glad to hear the piece was helpful and that you enjoyed it. And guess what - the plan for my column next week is indeed for a "flip side" piece where I look at older players (probably those over 30, but I'm not sure of the exact age cutoff just yet) who are likely to get a career high in points in the future despite their age! So stay tuned.....

I like this article. I was debating on Ericsson in a trade as his stock is low right now but I'm not thinking otherwise. I agree with the players and the basis is spot on IMO. It would almost be good to have an opposite article on the best is yet to come say over 25 year old players. - joee

Thanks for the additional comments - keep 'em coming!

@The Comish - Good point on Doughty, although like some of the other players I mentioned at the top of the article I think many people already have decided (right or wrong) that his career high of 59 from 2009-10 points is well behind him, whereas for the six guys I covered in detail, the secret isn't out quite as much. But even beyond that, call me crazy but I think Doughty actually has a better chance than the three guys I named to establish a new career high at some point down the road, especially after what we saw in the playoffs last season.

@MikeTSchmidt - Both Yandle and Big Buff are still must owns, but I feel that Yandle will not be the same now that the Coyotes have better forwards and with OEL fast becoming the offensive catalyst, and with Byfuglien there are just too many red flags going forward. - RizzeeDizzee

Good read and I especially like the subject matter. You could even lower the age to 27 maybe? Would Drew Doughty fall into this category in your opinion? Thanks for the article! - The Comish

It should be noted that Yandle and Byfuglien rank first and second among defensemen in shots on goal this year. I agree with your idea to sell high, but it's hard to trade away a d-man like them when their respective teams lean on them to carry the load offensively. - MikeTSchmidt

This is Rick - thanks for the comments so far

@BenTrovato - Good point on Eriksson, and you may end up right about Edler.

@iamlilc - I definitely should've mentioned Ovi in the beginning with guys like Green, Perry and Keith, as he too looks like someone who won't even challenge his career high (112 points!) again. - RizzeeDizzee

Interesting article and I do agree with some of them. Loui is a Winger and Wingers need great centers to produce. Jamie Benn is not Richards or Ribeiro. I agree with Kessel and Toews, it's easy to see they don't have it in them. Edler has been fantastic this year though. Now if injuries get the better of him in the future it won't bode well for him, but he is far better this year than last year. - BenTrovato

I think it's time to add Ovie to this list. - iamlilc
