3rd Rounder

You missed the 2013 3rd rounder Dallas sent to Montreal along with Ryder. Cole's commitment to the game is not what it used to be and neither is his play. This a slam dunk win for Montreal in my estimation. - 4horsemen

It's a straight one-season trade. Ryder is a free agent by the end of the year, Cole still has 2 years left at an average of 5 mil. per.

Assuming they don't re-sign Ryder (who'd probably be below the 5 mil mark), with this and the Gomez buyout (and the probable Kaberle buyout...), the habs have cleared 12 mil in salary. Oh, they also got a third rounder too! - jpguy13

How does Ryder not benefit from this? He was playing with who? and who? Now he gets to play with either Patches, Desharnais, Gallager or Galchenyuk. Granted, he's on a new team and that can take some time to get use to, but I think Ryder is in a great position to carry on his solid point production. - Dana Murzyn

I don't see why Ryder would slot in with Patches and Desharnais. Gallagher has been great in that spot and I see no reason why Therrien would move him. Ryder will probably slot in with Galchenyuk and Eller for the time being.

After that, things can change. - niconasr

I would expect an increase with Eriksson, somewhere closer to his regular pace. - johnnyimpala
