I'd say Brunner, pretty handily. He's shown that he's more than capable of excelling on an NHL ice surface and he's got talented linemate(s). - mounD

If you think Evgeni Malkin's drive is in question, and you don't respect his defensive game, then you clearly don't watch the Pittsburgh Penguins and you've missed the boat of Geno's new regimen. He is one of the harder working players on that Penguins team, and he creates so much of his offense through immaculate board play and through playing a sound 200-ft game.

Seriously people, Can't we just say that Malkin is #2 with the caveat being his health? Stamkos is 2A with the stipulation tht he hasn't missed a game in three years. Take it for what it is, they're both good players.

But please, please don't start doubting Geno's game because he is hurt. You just sound stupid. - mounD

I own Stamkos in a couple of leagues and would trade him every time for Malkin. I've offered Stamkos to the Malkin owners and both refused right away. Stamkos is amazing, but Malkin is better. Just my opinion, though, but I'd do that swap in a second. - smack

Dobber,

Would you rather have Brunner or Boyes in a one-year pool? - Username

Don't get me wrong Malkin is a great talent but to say the difference between him and Stamkos is the same as the difference between Datsyuk and Kadri is pretty mystifying. I know I'm nit picking here but I don't think Stamkos gets enough respect around here. Its a constant barrage about Malkins superstar potential around here but he rarely justifies his lofty perch around here - jeffro2111

& I just flipped Brunner & Conacher (who is retainable in my league) for Pavelski & Alfredsson straight across. Not so sure that was the best move. Wanted to upgrade my RW slot. Win some, lose some... - Captain Krunch

Careful Jeff....you know it's a PIT love-fest here. Their hearts simply aren't big enough for others. It'll be said, (uh-GAIN!), how dominant Malkin is, how Stammer only scores from one spot, & Sidney is just oodles of the best linemate. *puke. Yes, Malkin is SUPER-talented, he just isn't driven. When he wants to, he can be a top 2 player in the world. He wouldn't do any better on a team where he was the one high-light player, he may do worse. Malkin seems to constantly be searching for some identity on the team. He can play so many positions so well, he covers a lot of his own mistakes. When his lineamtes drop off, so to goes Malkin. Stamkos does nothing but work. All year. I doesn't matter what time of the year it is, Stamkos is breathing hockey. I think Malkin is in for a rough few years. I think the league-wide talent pool has slowly crept up on Evgeni's abilities. I think he's been such a staple of what players emulate, he's trapped himself. I think he'll constantly be "playing from behind" in his mentality. Leading to defensive lapses, resulting from poor breakaways. +/- problems & then the new contract thing will come up. We'll see. He sure is fun to watch when he wants to play hockey!! Just my .02 - Captain Krunch

Their ppg are nearly identical over the last three and half years. Only difference? Malkin has missed 61 games. Stamkos 0. Cmon man! - jeffro2111

Dobber I think its time to admit it. Stamkos deserves at least the number 2 spot on the top 300. There is no one in the league that has been as consistently dominant and healthy as Stamkos the last three and a half years. Malkin has had one good year in the last four. Cmon man! - jeffro2111
