As a frustrated Kopitar owner, any ideas on why he isn't shooting this year? The lack of points I could live with but his SOG are just adding to his s(t)inking value. - davidgoodburn

Old vs. Young

Ahhh, we all know that you don't trade that rising puppy for the old clearly on the decline guy. Avoid the dependent upon stars players like Teddy Purcell or Brad Boyes(formerly Brunette, Stillman, Prospal...) because when they lose their opportunity the points will instantly disappear.

Well, I built and built young and talented teams. I watched another fantasy operator go get those "unreliable producers" and win a number of titles. Remain in the hunt for a decade. Then I went for it, and picked up a few of those unreliable steady producers. Now I've won four of the last five years.

Don't undervalue the old guys. Winning isn't such a bad thing. - JHM

you clearly said that:

To me, Erik Karlsson is the Sidney Crosby of defensemen. Nobody is close. - Big Ev

Big-Ev, I didn't say that. Either name could have been used for Karlsson. - Dobber

Elias/Wheeler

Funny thing is that i offered Wheeler for an A type of player...somewhat younger but still, i was scoffed at, just goes to show how different opinions are. The guy said Wheeler is unproven. In another league, i acquired Elias and Getzlaf for Perry and H. Sedin... - solo223

how come you say nobody is close to Sidney Crosby yet Malkin is 1st in your rankings and has a wide gap in "value"? - Big Ev

Potential trumps current value in keeper and dynasty leagues. You know this or you wouldn't be trying to trade a 70 point player for a guy who's only topped 40 once. Unless he somehow manages to "Selanne" his way into staying relevant and productive into his 40's, he's probably only got a year or two left in the tank and who knows how effective he will be beyond each year. The points could stop tomorrow and no one would be surprised. - Kyle

A friend of mine is dealing with the same negative feelings surrounding Elias. He's not currently competing and is having a hard time selling Elias to a winner for a fair price. I feel like I might have to take the guy off his hands, just so he gets value. And so I get 70+ points prorated. - mounD
