Shovel - I'd say it is pretty good and throught-provoking analysis. Hall is a "play driver" more than the other two. They all play offensive minutes, so who their linemates are when on different lines would be a negligible difference. - angus

And I am still a big Yandle fan, but OEL has passed him on the depth chart, and it is hard to produce with a team lacking offensive talent up front. I foresee a breakout if and when he is dealt for a forward. - angus

Faulk is miles ahead of Yandle defensively.

My opinion isn't going to be one everyone shares, of course. I don't expect that. - angus

Justin Faulk

Always a big fan of this article--- but the Justin Faulk obsession is beyond me. Top pairing? really? gotta say, you are way too high on this kid way too soon. He is nowhere near as good as you profess. What do you know that the rest of us don't? He's great, yea, and will be an incredible two-way dman for years to come, but top pairing for team USA? Not a chance. He still has a lot of learning to do at the NHL level. To say he's ready to be a go-to dman on one of the best National teams is pretty silly. Keith Yandle is significantly better than him on both sides of the puck... in fact, I'm pretty sure about 18 months ago, you beefed up Yandle like he was the next best thing. Little too much "what have you done for me lately' on this site sometimes.

Cut #5

It doesn't take a long look at the incomplete stats in that article and the tone it uses that it is highly biased. Example, while Eberle's play without Hall and Hall-Nuge is analysed, why not his play just without Nugent-Hopkins? And the same can be said for the other three comparisons. Plus, when taking into account each players play without the other 2, why aren't the linemates they are with taken into account? I would have said something over there but it is a 4 day wait to get an account with SBNation which I will probably never going to visit again as it felt like a "hockey buzz" kind of site. - shovelguy

I haven't read the article yet, but as far as the title goes, I just want to say, "Booooo!".

Prime Cuts: Karlsson...?

Interesting piece. Semin was not the root of Washington's problems, clearly demonstrated by Washington's early struggles and Carolina's/Semin's early success. Glad I picked up Semin as a late draft pick this year.
