It's great to hear of plans to transition from the current job to doing your own thing. We all need to do that, if desired. Yeah, Dobber did it the hard way, I suppose it made it possible for a lot of guys to get exposure without having to do the same thing. You'll have a good following before going it alone. Thanks for so much great information over the years...99% free btw, besides the guides, which are basically free when compared to a stupid magazine off the rack. I'll be subscribing to your new endeavors. As will many others. The value for dollar spent is laughable. I guess the biggest thing is getting your voice out there.

Take care and all the best. I'll pass along your info to everyone in my 3 leagues. It really seems like you have your finger on the pulse when you're doing your analysis.

Wow those are some powerful words...

I do have an app out, the Apple one is still a bit of a pain in the bum, getting knocked back for the silliest things IMO.

The thing for me is I do love fantasy hockey, I love the consumption of it, looking that the numbers and outcomes and breaking it down to look at the why. (Dunno why? I guess that's just how my brain is wired). The reality is I still have a great paying job, so it's kinda hard to juggle the two. If I could do this full-time and make relatively similar money as I do teaching, I'd jump in a heartbeat. I just don't know if I'm willing to do it "Dobber" style and commit 2 years at making peanuts to get it going and building it from the ground up, so I'm taking baby steps.

With that said the app is kinda my swing for the fences, hopefully the daily news will attract enough people that when I do launch a premium one with a daily ramblings, draft guide, weekly articles, studs and duds, draft cheat sheets and Maaaasquito buzz me... that if I make it cheapish (ranging from $1-5 for each feature) that a few people will buy it, which gives me enough revenue to cut back my teaching days to part-time, and eventually transition it to a full-time job. That's the big picture anyway.

Hopefully there'll be more fans like you out there who would be willing to trust me and give it a shot.

Thanks for the kind words! Much appreciated. - Ryan Ma

It's pretty simple. You're definitely one of the most insightful writers in fantasy hockey (I'm sure I speak for many). The first time I read one of your articles years ago, I knew right away I hadn't read anything like it before. Very smart, IMO. You should have your own site where you do your own ramblings each day. And based on those excellent daily ramblings (even if a modest size), you could do many other things for cash flow. I'd read your site everyday, like this one.
I could care less if there are overlaps with info. Most of the material out there is weak and is only consumed because of the lack of good reading available.
I know you have other projects on the go and I'll check them out, hopefully it means your voice will be heard more often.
Bottom line, you need to be heard more. It's just doesn't make sense to only read this stuff so rarely (or so it seems).

Just my two cents. - shingy

Thanks for the positive comments, always good to know that even after I've taken a few steps back from Dobber this season, I still have a good following ;) Much appreciated! - Ryan Ma

Dude, wtf? You are suppose to make every single decision for me. Don't leave me hanging. I even called my team "In Ma We Trust!". I kid. Thanks for the great write up, as usual. Always worth a few re-reads.

I concur - Ma delivers the goods every time. Love this post. After the Karlsson injury, I am readjusting my own expectations for my team this year. :( - angus

It doesn't get better than Ryan Ma... Great stuff!

Over the past week, I traded for both Perry and Iginla. I was pleased to see Jerome with a little fire under his ass last night with a fight and two assists. This was immediately after his drive was questioned by a teammate:

Perhaps that's the first domino to fall before Iginla busts out in a hot streak - he's due! - Two On One
