Not that we could ever prove it either way, but I would bet money there are at least a handful of teams that would never even consider adding Kaleta to their team. Those that tend to emphasize "character" above all else (for better or worse), I highly doubt would even give him a thought. And there are those that wouldn't for chemistry's sake - ask teams how just throwing Avery into the mix with a room full of guys that f-ing hate Avery works out. Kaleta would have that effect in a number of rooms, and likely most of those GM's would be wary of that. - sanstanya

Say what you will about Kaleta, but there are 29 other teams who would love to have him. - bullwinkle

Interesting statistic for yesterday's birthday boy, Steven Stamkos. It is truly impressive seeing him amongst that group of players, but how ridiculous is Gretzky's 329 goals by the time he was 23-years-old? Thats plain silly. - Dean Youngblood

TJ Brodie

Loving the love in the TJ Brodie shout out today Angus. Here is a kid that beat out Mats Sundin in the Leafs accuracy competition when he was playing Atom hockey (Brodie went 4 for 4....impressive). Brodie grew up in my local town and I have had the chance to play pickup hockey with him and talk to him throughout his development. It's great that he remains with Calgary and I am hoping he gets a long leash because, offensively, this kid has some great upside. - Dean Youngblood

The Flames

A few comments regarding the Flames.

First of all, the additions of Hudler, Cervenka, and Wideman have looked to be very good signings by Feaster. Each game they look better and better.

Second, I have loved Bob Hartley's approach to each game and his deameanor.

Third, although the Flames sit in 12th place in the West, they have have three games in hand compared to some teams. They have played the least number of games than any other team in the league, and they seem to be putting things together now. Last night's performance wasn't great, but they showed that when they needed to turn it on that they could.

I have much more faith in this years team than I have in any other Flames roster in the past three to four years. - Jason7

10 Most Hated List

Pretty good list.
If I would've guessed, I would've got 7, 8, maybe 9 of those guys.
I guess the word on d-bags gets out even to the fans.

Funny thing I noted... the majority of those players have ties to either being raised or playing in Ontario or Quebec. Kaleta is practically a Canadian (Angola is practically Buffalo and Buffalo is practically Canada). Also of note - most of the grittiest/hated Ontario boys have ties to the Toronto areas. Though Windsor has always raised some pretty gritty players (Ott, Matt Martin, JovoCop, Probie, Domi) - my hometown. ;)

I guess it's the grit of the area you were raised in that rubs into you!
LOL. - Pengwin7

That is amazing. He is a guy that flys a bit under the radar as far as superstars go. Hopfully he will get some recongition he deserves. I mean hell Ovie and Crosby's face is plastered on anything not nailed down. - DarthVain

Surprised not to see Evander Kane anywhere on the top 10 most hated list, especially given some of the others on the list and how off-ice behavior factored into the list for some. - RizzeeDizzee

Not sure about "conventional wisdom" but I definitely don't think you have bottom out periodically to be a SC contender. Obviously many teams have gotten there that way but I don't think it's a requisite. That said, to illustrate the flames particular situation, I also believe you can drive a collector automobile running in tip-top condition for decades, if properly maintained. But if completely neglected, eventually you are driving a $500 jalopy. Should you really keep buying brand new tires for it? Hell no - you scrap that piece of crap and buy another car. The Flames have allowed themselves to be the jalopy and it's time to face up to it. Sell the few useful parts to another collector that is maintaining their prized possession and junk the rest.

Honestly, I can't stand the flames and it's gone on so long they almost have me feeling bad for them! For the 1st few iterations of this self-deception I just cheered for it to never end, like Waiting for Godot. But seriously, even that had to end eventually. Free Iggy! - sanstanya

Gretzky's total was affected by WHAT THE F*@& 329?! No seriously I think it was affected by him being an alien or some shit - that is not reasonable. I can honestly say I did not comprehend what I was witnessing while watching him in my youth. 329 ha! - sanstanya

In that line of thinking, Kovalchuk's total is effected by the last lock out as well. Stamkos' total is effected by this lock out, also. - Ross The Boss Palmer

JT Miller looked like he belonged out there. I can't really explain it any better than that. He didn't panic with the puck on his stick nor did he try anything overly fancy. He is also quite strong on his skates and was very effective in the corners. He and Kreider looked great together on the counter stretch play.
Boyle didn't dress for the game and honestly NY didn't miss him with Powe taking his SH minutes. - donpaulo

To be fair, Ovechkin's rookie year was delayed by a year, otherwise his goal total by the age of 23 could have been greater than Stamkos'. Perhaps by as many as 10 or more goals. - Ross The Boss Palmer

He's best served being sent down. I've watched him play this year, and he's getting out-muscled and out-smarted.

The fans love him (mostly because he was the new Jets' first draft pick), but getting sent down was the right move for him. - Steffen
