Guy on the radio today suggested Gillis doesn't have any deal in place, he's just trying to get the Vancouver media off his back and add a bit of urgency to any interested trade partners who thought they could sit back and wait for Gillis to get desperate and move Luongo cheaper.
Not sure I believe it but certainly a possibility - steve_oshp

Not sure where you get that from as Zetterberg and Datsuyk have big long contracts. - BlackGold

wasn't there an article...way back when, that had some statments about how if the Canucks didn't move Luongo before the free agent day, then they would stand to loose a pretty large sum of money in regards to arbitration with Schneider.

Detroit is stubborn, they dont take huge risks unless they see it panning out down the road (wait...just don't think of Franzen's contract) Mrazek (sp?) is in the system but it takes awhile to develop right? Could Luongo help develop a young kid in the minors?

Tampa made their splash this year with Lindback. I think this would be an exectutive slap in the face to bring in a vetran waiting to steal a spot when you falter.

To me what makes sense is a team that is willing to go long term enough but not 7 yrs. what about Chicago? - Jpappas

@davidgoodburn:

I sure hope JVR doesn't turn out to be another Kris Versteeg for Toronto (a good top six forward that never finds his game in T.O.) - MikeV

The Gillis quote seemed more about a player involved in the LuLu trade, not the team: "We have a potential deal in place with one team that has to do something with another player that they have, and it's not who anybody thinks it is, and so we have to wait." Gillis told the Sun.

So, it still could be Toronto, Chicago or Florida. - StoogeRangers

After watching Chicago win over LA following the Kings completing an exhausting Ring Ceremony and Banner Raising, should it be a fantasy "rule" to bench players for the celebrating, 1st home game because of the amount of energy and emotion that is expended before the game is played that day? I didn't know if there was historical fantasy data that says to be prepared for less than expected numbers from star players that day and not start the season off for your roster with marginal performances. Thanks for any comments or feedback. - TeamFoster4
