Love the game; Hate the league

The NFL settled their own lockout during training camp last year and was shamed into settling with the refs after that embarrassing finish to the Seahawks-Packers MNF game. The NBA settled their lockout before last Christmas (when most casual fans start paying attention to the season anyway) and does have its commissioner in a bizarre and ridiculous feud with one of the league's marquee teams (the Spurs). MLB, of course, had its steroid scandal not too long ago and canceling the '94 World Series is still a permanent stain in the record books. However, the NHL is now completely unparalleled in bush-league status at this point. Three protracted lockouts in 18 years is ridiculous. It is time for a new WHA. - Isle B.

For a keeper draft, combining the past three years standings to generate an average sounds fair. Tiebreakers would be the standings each year going backwards.
For example:
8 of 12, 4 of 12, 8 of 12
Draft 5th, 9th, 5th
19/3 = 6.33 - Rad64

Canceled Season Draft

As the commish, I wanted to do a NHL style lottery to determine order if the season is canceled but I put it to the league to vote on... after two rounds of voting, a non-weighted lottery was the popular choice over no draft, using last years standings, and weighted lottery.

The league is split down the middle when it comes to our keeper situation however. We have a keep 5 (1 goalie max, no top 2 round picks) and the choices are no change or add 2 keepers (same restrictions) to add some value to the draft we had this fall. - shovelguy

Not sure if this is applicable to your ramblings or a separate article but how about a list of players that might benefit from the extra layoff to heal injuries. A good example last lockout was Selanne who came back strong as ever off knee surgery. - DuklaNation
