Not sure how you can say Yakupov was ever better than Tavares as an 18 year old. More flashy, sure. Tavares was on another level as a prospect (and as an NHLer in the future). Yakupov is on the level of a Taylor Hall. Both pretty much equal talents, both not as good overall (read: both ends of the ice) as a Stamkos or Tavares.

Since Crosby was drafted, IMO, it's:

Tavares
Stamkos
Kane
Yakupov/RNH/Hall
Johnson - Big Ev

Crosby Comments

Jeff - agreed it goes both ways, but his comments were within the context of that particular playoff series and I think anyone, impartial or not, saw clearly the Pens took alot more liberties than the Flyers did...mainly because they were behind, frustrated etc., but what Neal, Malkin, Asham et al. did was far worse than something the Flyers did in that series...I get it, Crosby needs to keep the "big, bad Flyers" persona alive with the refs and try to equivocate down what he and his teammates did embarassingly during that series, but I think people in general are smarter than that, can see what happened on the ice and understand why its easy to accept Crosby was wacking Giroux's wrists every faceoff...people think Sid is a lovable face of the league, but as a player he is as competitive as there is and will do just about anything to win...I'll equivocate here myself and call him Bobby Clarke. :) - Front89

While I think Quebec City would have good fan support, its not a great business model. There are better choices out there. West of Toronto works in a lot more ways. - DuklaNation

Thanks newf.

Don - should be OK. Works for me.

Front - it goes both ways. As an impartial observer, I love the comments. - angus

Came out in the 90s, but I highly recommend Habs: and Oral History of the Montreal Canadiens from 1940-1980. Great read. - newfcollins

Crosby v. Giroux

The rivalry is great and real which, in this hype inflated sports world, is refreshing...I'm a Flyers fan and thus biased, however, I will point out that Crosby's comments are comedic also since he's been a diver, ref whiner and borderline dirty player for a long time...and the Pens definitely took more liberties in that series than the Flyers..I'm still not sure how Neal did not suspended and Malkin's elbow was alive and well...unfortunately he cheap-shotted his own guy (Crosby)instead of a Flyer this time - Front89
