Navy Seal = Military??

"24-year-old Navy Seal. Lost both his legs less than three months ago. IED. Seven months into his tour in Afghanistan" (is this not military related????)

Hey, when I hear about someone losing their legs in a WAR, excuse me if I think about politics (the people that sent him there). Everyone should, we'd be losing a lot less legs in (illegal) wars. I don't see the pretty story that goes with it, I only think he shouldn't have been there to lose his legs in the first place.

Don't forget, we are talking about this because there was a story in the ramblings about people losing their legs in war. We didn't just start talking about it on our own.

I can assure you. Without war related stories, there would be no war related comments. Pretty simple. I come here everyday for hockey.

And yes, I am proud. I can treat people nicely and not hurl childish insults at them for expressing their opinion.

PS. Thanks for the ramblings, great read as usual.
I'm saying military related news (like above) can easily make people think of politics, for obvious reasons.
Where is the military news above? Again, I say if you take that as military news and feel it warrants posting your ideas and views on the military....you definitely are lacking something in your life.

Most normal people see that as a story of something positive happening to someone who clearly suffered a tragic event, who happens to be in the military.

24-year-old Navy Seal. Lost both his legs less than three months ago. IED. Seven months into his tour in Afghanistan

The only person twisted here is you my friend, the story is the same if you read only the bold. The rest is simply explaining how he lost his legs.

I think you need to re examine your life if you miss Chris' point so badely, when its so obvious to the rest of the world. The guy is still a human being, suffered a tragic event but is now getting to do something he probably dreamed about....period. Its NICE to see something positive happen to people who need it...regardless of their profession.

PS: I could care less how many years/times you have posted on this site, it doesnt change the fact that today you took an innocent story and trashed it....well done, your should be proud. - C.J

Did I say a guy losing his legs was political news? Thanks for saying that for me. I'm saying military related news (like above) can easily make people think of politics, for obvious reasons.

You have it twisted. You think I'm lacking, you're the one lacking. Understanding why your loved ones are dying is important. Don't get it mixed up thinking they're protecting us. Each one of them is dying in vein.

We're not trying to be hurtful or harsh, we care, just like you. War sucks. That's all. But calling these guys hero's everywhere we turn can be very misleading for the children. It can glorify something that does not deserve it. Is the man brave? Hell yeah. But war needs to be put in its proper context.

PS. I've posted on this site for years. Many, many times. Ramblings, articles, forums, etc. I don't make things political any more than you have. I think it was the fact that you were acting so incredibly rude that made me want to say something. So, thank yourself. - shingy

Your life must be really lacking if you consider a guy (soldier) who loses his legs, getting a chance to play hockey with some nhl players.... political news :D

The only thing brutal here is people like you who take an innocent (hockey related) story and bend it to preach their own (non hockey related) views. Go get your attention on another (more appropriate) forum. - C.J

IMO, Nichols is the best thing to happen to fantasy reading. He's excellent. But, military news is political any way you slice it. Politics is the first thing I thought of when I read the piece. If you're not gonna censor the writer, you can't censor the responses from the article.
Just because we lose loved ones during war, doesn't mean we can't say it's stupid, it is, obviously. Soldiers dying in the middle east have zero to do with my current freedom, trust me. It's making it worse (check blowback). And that's not disrespectful, it's the truth. If there were more people like mounD making decisions, we wouldn't be at war losing loved ones.
This site also has a forum section dedicated to non hockey related issues, this led me to believe we could discuss a different range of things here...especially when brought up in the ramblings.

@ CJ (Bud) Wow. Grow up. Brutally immature. Straight to the insults. You have no right at all to act like a fourteen year old.

Who cares what you approve of bud? they are clearly deleting all the posts having nothing to do with hockey (including mine if need be).....and they should.

If you want "free exchange of respectful ideas" go to the appropriate site, nobody cares about your views or ideas here. - C.J

@germant

I attack any moron who opens their mouth with senseless garbage. I had 2 family members die serving their country....so i have ZERO time for listening to some jackass whine about politics and discrediting the soldiers who serve our country because of it.

And this is a hockey site bud, not a site to "put his beliefs out there". Chris posted about a sad story with a happy turn that was hockey related and this moron basically tried to turn it to shit....thats class for you. - C.J
