If skate blades were 1/16" wider, I bet the game slows down 5 percentage points. In turn, I bet this slows the concussions down 10 or 20 percent, based on speed. It makes the rinks bigger too, as it takes an extra moment to get someplace. Playmaking would in turn be enhanced... would goals then rise? Don't believe that wider skate blades would solve the problem? Imagine if the skate blades were 6" across.
