Dobber,

Re the CBA talks you have identified the problem clearly. The 57% plan from the last CBA was a great solution for 2004 but then we have this huge amount of revenue growth - but uneven revenue growth. Canadian teams grew like gangbusters as both the economy and the dollar grew far faster than Florida, Phoenix or a host of "non-traditional" markets.

One possible solution would be for the players and the teams to pour a % of revenue into the revenue sharing pot. If the players put in 5% (dropping their share to 52%) and the teams put in 5% (each team's 5% would be a different $ amount but the total % for the league would be 5%) into a revenue sharing pot that would (given the current $3.3B in league revenue) create a pool of $330million to be redistributed among all teams as the league sees fit. Give it all to Philly for all I care but at that amount you have approximately $11million per team on average to redistribute - persumably Philly or the Rangers or MLSE will not be able to argue that they should get a share so we are now able to successfully prop up the weaker sisters of the league. The cap becomes effectively $57.2million per team (some sort of a buyout option needed to allow teams to get under this may be required) but with the revenue sharing, everyon can make a buck.

What it also does, however, is gives everyone an incentive to make sure teams are getting higher revenues - say relocation to Quebec or Toronto Team #2.

This $330B figure is higher than either the league ($190million) or NHLPA's number ($240million) but that isn't surprising because this proposal has the money coming from both sides as opposed to the current proposals that say revenue sharing is a great idea and the other guy should pay for it.

My two cents. See you in November. - Highlander

Dobber,

Where is Calvin de Haan? He is nowhere to be found in the guide. He is definitely in the mix with Donovan and Ness for the last couple of spots on the Isles' blue line. If the Visnovsky trade gets nullified then de Haan is probably better than even money to make the team. (I know this isn't a big deal.) - Isle B.

Solid rambling.
I like the shift of your leagues from PIM to Hits. It is definitely the right direction for fantasy hockey. Hopefully Yahoo! & other sites follow suit with their default league categories in future seasons. - Pengwin7

When corporations/governments concede on revenue sharing, the people will give in some issues. It really is in their best interest to kidnap the "owners" and tie them up, gag them, and stick them in a closet until the disparity is resolved in a way that is good for society - and not the pockets of eight or nine people.

Great ramblings, thanks.
