Frattin:

Great read! I just wanted to point one thing out, on Frattin. No question he will/should be in the NHL this coming season, indicated by the 1 way contract BB extended him. However, IF the Leafs are to bring in a Center re:Getzlaf/Stastny or such, Frattin will definitely be pulling on a different jersey than the rest of his current buddies in blue. He is a great prospect but unfortunately because of the Maple Leafs years of inability to bring in a top quality center, he is a sacrifice that will be seen blooming on another teams payroll.

Just my opinion of course.. IF he stays a Leaf and they are unable to bring in a center.. watch for this combo:
Lupul - van Reimsdyk - Kessel
MacArthur - Grabo - Frattin/Kadri

Unless Kulemin returns to form he is best suited in a checking role where he can throw his body around and showcase his exceptional defensive skill.

Basically what all this means (where Frattin is concerned) is IF he's a Leaf he may just be a valuable late Fantasy pickup in a deep league. If you have an option for a minor league team you are laughing with this pick. However if he goes to a team such as the Ducks or Avs I think his value drops a slight bit as his role would be less prominant on those teams. Just my thoughts.

Great blog!
(sorry for any typos/no edit! haha)

Hamonic is NYI's best defenseman already. I see him developing into a 8-10 goal, 35-45 point no nonsense defenseman (Seabrook 2.0). - angus

Where do you see Hamonic fitting in this year and future? How do you compare his offensive potential to Donovan? - TOCanadafan

Silfverberg

Majority of last season the top line was Greening-Spezza-Michalek. Second line was Foligno-Turris-Alfredsson. The talk around Ottawa has mostly been that Latendresse will fill in Foligno's spot, until he has his seasonal injury:'( At which point Greening will take up his spot on that line. As for the Greening's position on line 1, its up for grabs to one of: Mark Stone, Jakob Silfverberg, or Mika Zibanejad. Both Stone and Silfverberg are listed as LWs and Zibanejad as C. It seems like management was not very pleased with Zibanejad's progress last season in the SEL. So he is likely to spend some time in the AHL or learn the ropes on the 3rd line. I believe the real battle is between Stone and Silfverberg. Whoever shows better at training camp will win this battle. Seems like Greening is going to get the shaft, they seem to want more production from a top line winger... who doesn't! ;) - Uproar
