Leverage Cont'd

I just figured since the players seemed to come out on top after the last lock out, that it was in their favour. I may be wrong in that regard. Also, don't the tv deals favour the owners, making a full season favourable to them as a lock out would be bad for business (ratings, attendance, continuity, frequency). I understand that it would be bad for all parties involved, but it seems to me that the owners stand to lose leverage should a lockout occur. Perhaps I am completely wrong. Either way, I want, neigh, need hockey. - Ross The Boss Palmer

I don't think the owners agreed to starting the season with the current CBA, and every lockout the players offer to continue playing. It's to the players' advantage to play through it. That's why it's a lockout, not a strike. The owners 'lock out' players who are willing to play. - Dobber

If they start the season without a new CBA, would that favour the owners in negotiations, giving them more leverage? - Ross The Boss Palmer

Lockout

Not sure why everyone thinks there will be another lockout when both sides have said that they can agree to continue with the current CBA past Sept 15th, whilst still negotiating the new CBA.
This would allow the season to start on time if an agreement wasn't quite ready.

Why does everyone always expect the worst. - UKflames
