Souray-effect?

I'm happy you touched on both sides of Fowler - I like the complete picture.

One thing that would've been nice to look at is the new effect of bringing in Souray.
Souray is a big, mean 'ol "me-first" big-shooting defenseman.
He had 38PPP, 26G, & 224 SOG with Montreal in 06/07. He also had a 11.6 SH%.
He had 23PPP, 23G, & 268 SOG with Edmonton in 08/09. He also had a 8.6 SH%.
Last year, Souray had just 6 PPP (awful) on 179 SOG.
Last year, Goligoski had just 9 PPP (awful) on 140 SOG (down from 161 SOG).

Goligoski, Souray, Lubo, Fowler - all left-handed players.

Here's where I'm going with this:
From watching Dallas Stars' games, it seemed like the younger Goligoski kept defaulting his passes over to Souray and letting Souray bomb them on net. No team's powerplay was as bad as Dallas' last year (last, 13.5%) and a big part of this, IMO, was Souray's lack of puck movement and over-excessive shoot-first bombing mentality on the PP.

Will Fowler act like Goligoski?
I think, maybe so.

The fact that Anaheim has a lot of expiring contracts for their superstars concerns me. And signing Souray is something that could really hinder Fowler's output. While I like Cam's offensive hockey sense, I'm not investing in him in keeper pools because I have little faith in Anaheim's future chemistry on their PP. - Pengwin7
