Just watch them play. He's better utilized on the wing with his speed and the only reason he played so much at center was because Backstrom was out. - sentium

Agreed - the Penguins made out like bandits, but you have to pay for the best player in the deal - Dobber

Johansson and the wing

Johansson played a lot of center last year, taking 710 faceoffs. While I grant you guys that his leanings were towards the LW in the latter part of the season, it's certainly not so clearly the case/cut and dried that it's worth calling anybody out on. Do you know how silly it sounds when a player plays 50 games at center, 30 on the wing, and you correct someone for calling him a center? Or even if it was 10 games at center, 70 at wing and you correct someone! lol
Anyway, most young centermen see time on the wing in their first three seasons, often so much so that you consider them wingers. That's because center is a very important position, not to be thrust onto the shoulders of a youngster. But some of them do return to the center position, such as Benn.

So I have to say that yes, this pushes Johansson down - both in ice time and in PP time, as well as push him off the center position even more frequently then he already was. - Dobber

In a few years I can't see Edmonton being able to afford these guys. They will have to trade somebody. - fouadhz

both Ribiero and Visnovsky went cheap if you ask me, especially when neither team had to deal them due to the cap- or to make room for an obvious successor.Especially Dallas who just traded one of their top 3 forwards for a good prospect?

as for the Staal deal, to get all that for him is HUGE for Pittsburgh, especially when you consider he basically said he would leave in a year. Sutter isnt far off from Staal, should be cheaper and they get Dumolin, who could be a top 4 dman in 2years or less and the 8th pick overall? That pick was pure gravy. - Rollie1967

No, it doesn't push Johansson down because he's a winger in Washington now. - sentium

I wonder why so cheap? Could rumours be true he is thinking of hanging it up? - Millhouse
