I could agree more about the CBC. They were all over them for unknown reasons.

I usually dismiss talk about people having negative views about Russians, but after watching the final(s) with the CBC, I am more receptive to such ideas. - pattywins

No question in my mind that Dougie Hamilton is ready for prime time. He's outplayed the OHL, the AHL isn't an option and I wouldn't be surprised to see him mentioned among the calder candidates to end the year. - Dean Youngblood

Sentium - I read that blurb, too. He's available for trade. Perhaps they are shopping him. Semantics, no? - angus

Of course I have read it - but Pittsburgh knows that the only place that Staal wants to go is Carolina. Limited trading partners = Carolina holding the cards. - angus

Angus, have you not read any of the Staal coverage from yesterday? He won't sign an extension anywhere but Carolina (including Pit). PIT is now hand-cuffed pretty bad regarding what they can demand from CAR in a trade because he's going there now or as a UFA next summer so CAR doesn't have to make the deal "convincing" or as beefy as PIT probably wants it to be.

Yes, but if he doesn't sign an extension, the Pens are having their hand forced. Can't always get what you want, as the Stones said. - angus

Staal is one of the top 5 2-way forwards in the game and has significant upside on a team where he can get first line minutes - think Kopitar or Kesler. There is no way I'd give him away for players of the caliber of McBain and/or Sutter.

As a flames fan, I'd gladly give up Iginla and any other player on our roster for Staal. - mabus

any team who gives Jokinen more than a 2yr deal should have their head examined, but with the cap going up and little talent available....a lot of players are going to get overpaid. - Rollie1967
