Gomez only has 2 more seasons on his deal, unless the CBA changes to allow for a buyout that doesnt carryover- i dont see the Habs doing anything this year. maybe his last year he's in the minors (they could afford it-but unless 1 of their CTR prospects really surprises, I dont see him losing his job).
Despite the lack of big bodies, i could see Gallagher making the team, or even Galchenyuk/Grigorenko, but ideally they all see more time in the minors/juniors.
Montreal needs to get bigger/more physical, and Enqvist isnt that type of player- Tinordi is-but hes probably a year away as well. Montreal is rebuilding, and will probably look alot different at the trade deadline than they do at the start of this season.
Outside of Price- Montreal might have the weakest group of goalies in the league. - Rollie1967

Haven't forgotten Bournival or Gallagher - the problem is that I try to stick to only a few players to mention as up and comers. Bournival (5'11") and Gallagher (5'8") are both relatively undersized players to start with. Bournival is coming straight from the QMJHL, where he did play well, but probably isn't ready to step up the to the NHL level, at least for this season. Gallagher has an even tougher road ahead of him as a 5'8" player on a team that's already undersized. Gallagher did have a good year in the WHL, but he might need a couple seasons in the AHL before he can make NHL contributions (similar to Desharnais).

If you want to look beyond the names I mentioned and Bournival and Gallagher, you might want to look to Danny Kristo, who will likely return to the University of North Dakota for his senior year. He is a pretty solid winger who could make a push for an NHL roster spot in 2013-14. While he played two more games, he did score the same amount of points as Chris Kreider last year in the NCAA, tied for 19th most in the league. Might not sound like a lot, but if you have had a chance to watch him play (either at the WJC's or at UND), you can tell he is a solid prospect.

If you want to give Montreal a dock in its forward prospects (heck maybe even its current roster), it's that they're stocked with players under 6'. They need some bigger bodies. - Tim Lucarelli

For the top 6 winger slot who was empty ... Forsberg or Galchenyuk ... could fill it soon (2 year) or Yakupov (now)

The D and G wasn't a problem actually (if Subban and Price ws resign).

Without trades - MTL in two years

Cole - Desharnais - Pacioretty
Yakupov/Galcheyuk/Forsberg - Plekanec - Gionta (a top rookie woth two veterans)
Bourque - Eller - Gallagher
Bournival - Leblanc - ...

Subban - Tinordi
Markov - Kaberle
Gorges - Emelin - Beaulieu

Price

Wasn't so bad ...

Have you forgot Brendan Gallagher or Michael Bournival as some of the top prospect for the Habs? - eribelan
