The Kings will win it

The first game was just what I expected. Both teams were a bit rusty, the "feeling them out" cliche applied.

Then things got down to business. NJ gave it their best but LA is simply too fast and big. They dominated and controlled the ice at times. NJ had spurts but not the gravitas of the Kings.

When it got to OT I predicted Kopitar would score it. Now if my prognosticative abilities hold up, it will be the Kings in five games. They will probably lose game 3. - bullwinkle

Interesting comments on the 2003 draft class. I know that was an extremely solid draft class regardless of the lockout, but it still got me hypothetically thinking about what the NHL would look like if kids were drafted at 20 instead of 18. Very few players are physically ready to contribute at 18, so you end up with an odd lag where the top player doesn't really help his new team that much during his first year or two. With all of the injuries as well, I just wonder if there will be a similar push to the one seen in the NBA to push back the draft age.

I'm not sure if I'm in favor of it or against it, but considering that Staal was the only member of the 2003 class to play a full season in the NHL before 20, I'd like to dream that it would make the overall quality of the league stronger.

I hope I was watching the same game (unless somehow my CBC feed picks up the future). Kovalchuk looked dangerous. You can tell the Kings respect him more than Parise from an offensive standpoint.

Hey Angus

am not sure what game you were watching, but Kovalchuk was not good tonight. I thought he had a rough outing with the puck bouncing off his stick quite a bit - destructivedevil97
