Nielsen TV Ratings

The issues about showing the game in a public venue is due to Nielsen TV ratings. If people in that large crowd are part of the Nielsen TV measurement audience, and they are not watching the game at home, they don't get counted in the ratings. Advertisement rates are based around those TV ratings. If it doesn't get measured it doesn't count towards watching the game. - ZarlyZalapski

I have no respect for Schultz or any player who would walk out on a team like that. They drafted you, you should sign with them. I call into question character when stuff like this goes on. There's literally nothing wrong with signing in Anaheim. They have a need for him, they have a decent core, and they play in California. There shouldn't even be the ability to sign anywhere else but Anaheim as far as I'm concerned. They need to change this in the next CBA. What's the point of drafting college players if they just decide they want nothing to do with your team? - Big Ev

schultz' first contract

I believe that even as an FA, Schultz is subject to the same entry level rules as other players, so maximum money and length are set in the CBA, and are based on his age - same as any other college UFA. So what'll determine it are the other factors you mention. - fzusher

I don't quite understand how viewing parties would hurt because they show commercials during the viewing parties right? I always fwd through the commercials at home but in a viewing party, I'd be forced to sith through them. I'm sure many of the people attending the viewing party might not have seen the game in the first place or forwarded on their PVR but they're sitting through the commercial when it's a live event. - Sportfreunde

Hey Phoenix, maybe support your team during the regular season and actually go to the games.......And then maybe, just maybe, you won't have other cities wanting your team to locate to their city.. Because it won't be an option. Funny how she didn't mention: Kansas City, Portland, or Indianapolis???

Regarding viewing parties, seems to me I remember the same thing happening a few years ago in Pittsburgh, and due to public outcry, the NBC caved and allowed the public viewing. - letnry

Arizona is not known for the intelligence of its politicians and frankly I think most 'Yotes' fans probably don't know anything about guys like Fred Oulasson or even Hawerchuk for that matter.
