Kronwall's hit is great. Who cares if its his back..the guy had his head down. People think ALL big hits should be illegal now. - bletchley

florida cap space

Florida has plenty of space to afford Garrison. With 16 NHLers signed for just over $40mil- they have to spend $8mil just to get to the floor. Not to mention the floor will be going up, along with the cap (Paul Holmgren thinks it could go to $69mil ceiling!) The notable players they will be looking to sign (im not including Wolski..who knows what to do with him)
UFA: Garrison, Clemmenson (or another veteran backup under 1.5per) maybe Samuelsson
RFA: Versteeg, Kulikov,Ellerby
those are the only players that would cost them much more than minimum. - Rollie1967

Kronwall hits

I hadn't seen the hit, but I knew what to expect before I even saw it. I think this type of hit with his back to the player is a classless move and should be penalized. He's doing this more and more and in my opinion, it shouldn't be legal.
I totally agree with you Rollie1967, and I've mentioned this before.

At least Stevens used his shoulder for most of his big hits. - MGW

I guess his increased ice time likely has to do with the Gaborik benching as well. Should've thought my comment through instead of leaving 3 separate comments :) - Ross The Boss Palmer

Kreider Ice TIme

I missed the game, but noticed in the box score that Kreider played 18:14, while Boyle played 11:33. Was that because of special teams (Kreider on PP, no penalties for Boyle to be on PK) or was that a result of even strength shifts? - Ross The Boss Palmer

Angus certified? or certifiable? :D

Am I the only one who thinks these style of hits by Kronwall/Subban need to be penalized? charging perhaps- watch Kronwalls feet-he leaves his feet most times and the player is basically running into the back of his shoulder pads, made of hard plastic of course. We used to think Stevens hits were all clean, but they were ending careers, and these types of hits can be just as devestating. I fear one day the player wont get back up.(although how he didnt see Kronwall baring down on him is beyond me). - Rollie1967

Couturier.

Sean Couturier is going to be a very good hockey player in the NHL since he already he is one! Looking back at the 2011 draft, it's totally absurd that Couturier wasn't drafted earlier. He led the Q in scoring at 16, then was over a PPG in his draft year despite playing with a mononucleosis. The Sens and Islanders are gonna feel bad for themselves by passing on Couturier. Couturier is such a smart player and combined with his great size & hands, he is going to be a force in the NHL. - yougo
