love the writeups Angus but if you check the stats Stralman has 3 goals in the playoffs and is tied with Callahan and Boyle. Plus he is doing it with bottom pairing minutes.

You are not impressed with his offense ?

You must have very high standards because at 17 minutes avg per game and 3 goals he is the Rangers offensive dynamo ! :) - donpaulo

Speculation

Modulok, top players are always discussed in what-if scenarios. Jordan Staal is getting discussed in trades, Suter, Weber, Luongo, Schneider, Parise, the list goes on. It happens every year. We speculate, analyze cap and financial issues, playing histories, connections with college/junior linemates and coaches, everything. Nothing against New Jersey or the Devils organization, it is just what we do as puckheads. We all have biases, and we all have other parts of our lives. Only Parise knows what he is going to do, and I bet he isn't !00% on it yet. A lot of organizations are in transition periods now, the Devils included (for financial reasons and potentially goaltender as well), so there will be a lot of speculation everywhere. There will be changes happening everywhere. It's all good my man :) - Ross The Boss Palmer

Busy two days at work - sorry gents. Haven't had the opportunity to share my thoughts on the game. Will get to it for tomorrow's ramblings. - angus

No Rangers/Capital ramblings, same goes for when the Devils dominated the Flyers. I guess if there is no Giroux, Malkin, Crosby highlights it's not worthy of coverage. - modulok

More likely than not, the Devils won't be able to sign Parise because of financial concerns. The team is on verge of bankruptcy and Kovalchuk's salary (not cap hit) jumps about $5M more next season. Doesn't leave much room to sign anyone let alone Parise. - Knuckles

How was there no recap of game 6 of rangers/caps between today and yesterday's ramblings? Just because neither of them are Canadian teams doesn't mean they should be ignored. - jimywho1

Zack Parise

I don't understand the statement that Ilya took away prime offensive minutes. They played on the same line for most of the year. Ilya moved to RW only a few weeks into the season. What about when Zack played center with Ilya?

What about Pittsburgh? Would you say Crosby took away prime offensive minutes to Malkin when he came back?

I hate reading all of these Parise comments everywhere saying he won't re-sign. Every interview he says he wants to stay with the Devils. They are playing up tempo fast paced hockey, but 'analysts' keep saying he's going to leave because he wants a Cup, money, and more offensive freedom. Ridiculous! - modulok

Ottawa signs Fredrik Claesson

No mention of Ottawa signing Swedish defenceman Fredrik Claesson to a 3-year ELC. I forgive you Angus, sort of.

The 2011 5th Rounder played with his future Sens teammate Mika Zibanejad (2011, 6th overall) in Sweden this season with the pitiful Djurgardens team that ended up relegated to Hockey Allsvenskan — the second division of Swedish hockey — for 2012-13.

Claesson is basically a defensive beast - there is nothing about the defensive game he doesn't excel at. Offensively, he is limited, but an NHLer he will be. When you can say that about a 5th round selection, you know you did something right. Kudos to Bryan Murray and his team of scouts yet again.

Welcome to North America and Bingo next season. - notch4077
