Big Ev, you can say it was Holtby's fault till the cows come home, but the puck went off Richards stick and into the net with less than 10 seconds in the game. That qualifies as clutch in my book. Maybe it doesn't in yours.

Further Richards is 5th in playoff scoring averaging 23 minutes per contest, hardly a poor performance so far. More points than Ovi or Parise who will probably get a similar 'brutal' offer sheet as well.

It is also my understanding that Calgary offered Brad more money so brutally overpaid in NY = a disgustingly perverse contract offer from the Flames eh ? The Kings made a similar offer so in your words they also offered to "brutally overpay". Perhaps the TO offer was just as loathsome ?

Maybe you feel that Lecavalier, Ehrhoff and Bryzgalov deals are also out to lunch ? The market dictates the price does it not ? Richards would be a fool to take anything less. I suggest you take issue with those contracts for guys whose teams didn't even make the playoffs or are now enjoying some offtime with with 10 million dollar salary.

The difference being that Brad is still in the playoffs due in large part to his last second heroics. Hate on his contract all you like but the guy and his team are still in the running which is what salary is based on. - donpaulo

donpaulo, Richards is still underwhleming in these playoffs, sorry. Brutally overpaid, and that goal last night was Holtby's fault. - Big Ev

G/Malkin/Ovie

I am a diehard Penguins fan but I have to agree with 87Flyer...they are not handling this correctly. You need to punish superstars...period.

Giroux did deserve a game...Ovie deserved a game...Malkin deserved a game if not more...when you are head hunting you deserve to be suspended and all three were and Giroux may have had the best argument.

Ovie on Girardi was a play to simply knock the Rangers best player out of their lineup...Girardi has more saves than Lundqvist and only Richards can be compared atm.

Explain to me then your reasoning

For not suspending Weber or Malkin yet giving Giroux a game? It's round 2? He took to much heat so now he has to do something? There is no reasoning. Shanahan is no different than Campbell, a puppet. If you have two kids and they both commit the same offense a week apart and you don't punish the first how do you then punish the second? You'd be quite the father wouldn't you. Not the same situation here but the parallel isn't that far off base. This is what makes this "discipline" system so pathetic and makes a fan even more disgusted. How can two star players not be suspended for blatantly obvious suspendable offenses and then another does? How can a third line player get 25 games for an offense that top 6 players get minimal games for? Makes me sick to my stomach and just seeth with anger. The worst part. THEY DON'T GIVE A SHIT what any of us think. They know we will continue to watch. They just sit back on their lofty thrones and giggle as they play with their mountains of coin.

If that's what they consider a game, so be it but give them all a game for the same thing. Don't pick and choose or give lame ass excuses like "he said he didn't mean to hit him". One things for certain, if this isn't enough to get the Flyers pissed off and show some dam emotion then nothing will. - 87Flyer

Lundqvist vs. Brodeur shot count

To be fair, most of the 22 shots/game that Brodeur game are from the fringe, whereas most of the 22 shots/game Lundqvist faces are unmarked guys right on the doorstep. The Rangers block the shots from the fringe, so Hank only faces the really dangerous ones. The Devils, on the other hand, clog the middle of the ice like crazy, so Brodeur only faces the fringe shots. - bogans

there was a lot of talk when Richards signed his huge contract in the offseason with NY that it may have been a mistake.
Where are those voices now ?

They played one full shift together in Game 2 in the 3rd with about 5 minutes to go. Other than that one time, I don't think they played a full shift together. - Mr. Guru
