I am hearing some talk about the possibility of the NYR defense being out of gas after the high ice times from game 3. I suppose its possible but

Marc Staal is 25
Girardi 28
McDonagh 22
MDZ 21

not exactly elder statesmen, and with 48 hours of rest I would say NY won't be adversely affected. The youth movement on NYs backline is well served.

Also they had a fantastic record on the 2nd night of back to backs during the regular season.

and finally NY will be even better next season - donpaulo

Cervenka's almost four million contract is the CAP HIT, not the salary. His contract is very much like the one Tyler Bozak signed with the Leafs a few years ago. Cap hit of 3.7 million but the base salary is under a million. - sentium

Marleau

Great ramblings as always... I see you defended Marleau a bit, but everyone seems to think that he is not a playoff performer and I would disagree. Most players see their normal production drop from the regular season to the playoffs, mostly due to the fact that the teams who make it are better and games are more defensive. Ignoring this year's stinker, Marleau has had 2 playoffs in the previous 8 where his production increased and 3 out of 8 where his production was about equal. Not bad if you ask me. So for a player widely considered a 1st line center, who has averaged 79.8 GP in his 14 year career and not missed a game since the 08/09 season, and has averaged over 37 goals and almost 73 points per season for the past 4 seasons, I bet there are 25 teams who should be taking a hard look at him this offseason, especially when his value may be at an all time low. - baconnol
