Downie & Quincey trades--Sale off continues in TBay.--(clarification)

I remain surprised that Colorado made the move for Downie while yet again giving up on a young highly regarded reargard(tongue-twister lol)such as they did with offloading Shattenkirk. Erik Johnson certainly hasn't ever come close to showing signs of being a legitimate #1 d-man, so you would think they'd keep another young d-man star at bay for a little while longer until their blueline were to come of age.

Meanwhile, with TBay acquiring the Red Wing 1st rounder, it really is a boon to Stevie Y for continuing to quickly amass a # of decent picks in short order with the trio of deals he's pulled off the past week. - Anthony Lancione

Very interesting that Stevie Y turned back to his former mentor(Kenny Holland) after the Downie and flipped Quincey back to where he won his 2008 cup. I thought considering how well he's done (on pace for 35-40 pts(after missing most of last season), that Colorado would like to play it out a little while longer. Afterall, Detroit's 1st rounder in all likelihood will be between the 25th & 30th selection. Very interesting.

Although, in Motown one would assume that Jakub Kindl now gets pushed to the 7th d-man on the depth charts. Good luck seein Commodore any any action going forward, barring any injury.

As for TBay-- it looks like a mini firesale is in place. Though I don't expect a massive overhaul aside from the goaltending situation which assuredly will be addressed soon enough. (Though more likely to occur in the off-season) - Anthony Lancione

I picked up Parenteau on waivers about 2 years ago, just traded him this morning with a 2nd round pick for Kuznetsov, Havlat, Bertuzzi and a 1st. - pull the goalie

Faulk looked pretty good in that fight despite being out gunned by Brouwer. In fact he looked about as good as Washington looked terrible in that game.
In the 2nd period there was miscommunication on the puck as Ovi tried to take it off a teammates stick resulting in counter play by the Canes and a shortie by Staal. Then later on the bench Ovi was yapping, clearly frustrated. The two guys who stood out for Washington were Semin and Chimera.
I think the Caps need a shakeup and probably should have kept Scott Hannan rather than sign Hamrlik, but what do I know ? I am a lowly rangers fan - paul
