"Idiotic? Um, didn't you see that i paid my 12.3 cents not-being-a-fkn-idiot tax? I'm pretty sure you meant moronic, irresponsible, or accusatorial. (I've yet to pay any of those taxes this year.)

But thank you for what you said about my air. I've really been working on it lately. (Nice to see that all those lung reps are finally starting to pay off.)"

So now that I've pointed out that your accusation against LWL is completely ridiculous and unfounded, you just blow more hot air... interesting how that works, right?d - sentium

"Do I feel Dobber pulled a bait-and-switch? No.
Did I say it was a premeditated attempt to rip everyone off? No."

In that case i apologize for misrepresenting your opinions. I came to those conclusions based on your statement that you felt ripped off, which i thought, and to be honest think, is an unreasonable reaction. That said the rest of your comments re: Dobber and the customer service of this site do seem to me (for whatever that's worth) to be reasonable and accurate, so again i apologize if i misinterpreted your intention. I just felt that Dobber acted with the best of motives to protect himself, the site, and (most significantly) his subscribers, and i read your original posts as stating otherwise.

Apologies aside, i curse you for the craving i'm currently feeling for Cool Ranch. If i don't lay off of those things i'm going to start to look like Kyle Wellwood. (Some Sweet Chili Heat might be good too. Hell, if that $1.50 sale's still going i might even get some classic Nacho flavour just for nostalgia's sake. (Nacholgia's sake.)) - roache

"Unless you have actual proof I'd call it downright idiotic to accuse LeftWingLock of intellectual property theft."

Do I feel Dobber pulled a bait-and-switch? No.
Did I say it was a premeditated attempt to rip everyone off? No.

My comments had nothing to do with money. I did not ask for a $10 refund or a cancellation of my Frozen Pool subscription. It's precedent. You don't sell a product to two different customers at different prices. Imagine going to the supermarket and the guy in front of you gets a bag of Doritos for $1.50 while you are asked to pay $3. How would you feel? It doesn't matter if another supermarket around the corner is selling chips for $1, $10 or for free. One store, one customer base, one price.

Dobber is a stand-up guy. He has customized orders for me multiple times in the past and given me a refund when I accidentally bought the same fantasy pack twice. I had no doubt that he would offer to refund the FP membership fee after reading my comments. Had he included the refund offer in the original article I never would have posted those comments. I am 100% satisfied now that all DobberHockey customers can pay the same price for the Frozen Pool tools, whether they already had a subscription or are just about to buy one. - chimp82x

That's a pretty bold claim. Where's your evidence that it's intellectual theft? Unless you have actual proof I'd call it downright idiotic to accuse LeftWingLock of intellectual property theft. It's even more absurd considering that LWL themselves have once been victims of ACTUAL PROVEN intellectual theft when Daily Faceoff stole their information and LWL proved it. I highly doubt they'd do that to someone else after they'd been the victims of it once.

Does Jason Arbuthnot have a patent that he is the only one who gets to code a service like this? The fact is that the two services don't give the same exact results, so they must have different algorithms, proving that it's not intellectual theft. It also presents an interesting question about which one is the most accurate.

Yeah, I'd say your claim is nothing but hot air. - sentium

Oh ffs, do you feel Dobber pulled a bait-and-switch? Think about the situation a little bit. This was not a premeditated attempt to "rip-off" his users. This is a reactive response to a market ensuring that his site remains the most useful on the Net.

I appreciate it, and can't believe that anyone would see this as an attempt to scam them.

p.s. Regarding the refund offer Dobber, i've looked at the portion of my annual $10 that this represents and have decided you can keep my 12.3 cents. I'll just consider it my massive patronage contribution to innovative fantasy coverage, or my not-being-a-fkn-idiot tax. - roache

You have a funny definition of healthy competition. Having somebody steal your innovative and original work isn't healthy competition; it's intellectual theft. The fact that this has forced Dobber's hand may be beneficial to those users not willing to part with the massive $10 a year it costs to receive (and support) these great tools makes me more sad than celebratory. - roache

I'm prepared to offer a full refund (and cancel the subscription) of anyone who feels as you do chimp. Just email me at dobber@dobberhockey.com. But frankly, everything that we have made free was already available free for everyone. Just not on this site. So rather than lose the business, the traffic, and any advertising revenue, I matched.

No need for anger, I'm not here to rip anyone off. You get your money's worth or you get your money. - Dobber

Before posting my previous comment I didn't notice that Fantasy Profiles are now free. This tool (comparable to Chart-A-Player) is the #1 reason I purchased a FP subscription. Now I'm feeling completely ripped off. >:( - chimp82x

I realize that these now "free" tools are only a small part of what you get with a Frozen Pool subscription, but how do you think this makes the people who paid for the subscription feel? This is like charging people for the fantasy guide and then releasing the draft list section of the guide for free.

As a long-time buyer of the guides and a current subscriber of Frozen Pool, I can't say I'm very happy with this business decision. It's not going to affect my FP subscription (the other tools are amazing) but I don't like knowing that after I've spent my hard-earned money some other chump is getting a handout. - chimp82x

Was already available for free over at leftwinglock. That competition seems to have forced Dobber to re-open this part of Frozen Pool as a free service. Gotta love some healthy competition :) - sentium
