I'm not quite sure the move will hurt Plekanec as he told he was getting tired of Cammalleri's bad attitude. - Philippe Grenier

Cammallerri's Salary has ZERO effect on the Flames as they have 12 UFA's at the end of the season and will be dumping a ton of dead weight. Feester wants to be competitive so they can take a run at some of the big name UFA's that will be coming up over the next two seasons (whether they will come to Calgary or not ie: Brad Richards). The Flames have stated several times that they will not take the Oiler/NYI route of being bad for several years to rebuild and this move reinforces that. - Kevin

Calgary is getting the far better player, but at $3mil extra... thats almost half a Gomez! (i have no faith that Gauthier would spend that wisely-hopefully for Habs fans he is gone in the off season).
Ramo could be the difference maker if he returns to NA, but that could be a longshot. Not Gauthiers worst trade- and could work out in the Habs favour. - Larry

Glencross

I hope the Flames are thinking along the lines (pun intended) you were when you suggested it might be a mistake to separate Jokinen, Iginla & Glencross (the-Getting-JIGgy-with-it line... worst name ever). I have Glencross in my league and as he and Cammy are both LWers i'm worried Curtis' reign of scoring above expectations might be dashed by a demotion down to the second line.

I'll be watching closely.

Besides, just the thought of a nickname like the CIG line gives me lung cancer. - roache

For sure. Would he move to center, perhaps? - Jeff Angus

Yeah he's injured at the moment, but I can't help but think that he has to be factored into the assessment somewhere. - Shoeless
