Steve,

The Jets games have been awesome, especially with the team playing so well at home. 5-0 for the 5 games I have attended. The 2-1 win over Boston was the best game by far. Pavelec is playing lights out at home winning games single handedly. Play-off atmosphere every night!

Tickets are so tight, they have a lottery for the "walk-ups". You can only win once per season. Good luck getting a few.

Heading to the Caps game tonight! - Rad64

Thanks again Kingchev!

How many Jets games have you made it to this year? I hear it's an absolute blast. I've been meaning to make the drive up (I'm from Dryden, ON) but haven't been able to find the time with the new job I'm working. I've got the Oilers visit in February eyed up but it's in the middle of the week so I may not get the time off. - steve laidlaw

I maybe missed 4 games of the blues in the last 2 years, I did not look at the numbers its just from watching that they are Really Comfy with each other, maybe from living together, and had great chemistry. I feel that the reason the first line is so effective is in my opinion Steen is one of the Smartest/most underated players in the league, and with Oshie's smoothness and Backes' all around game they are a great trio. Oshie seems like he will defintly set career highs in Goals and every hockey player knows confidence breeds success, so look for those shot totals to increase accordingly. Still up in the air as to who's Keeper value is greater, IQ is not even a close competition, but Oshie is as you mentioned reckless with his body while Bergy is just a perimeter player currently, but very effective when he brings his game inside. Being from Winnipeg, its gonna be so shitty next year when my two favorite teams are forced to become rivals and my blues allegence will take a very public backseat.
Thanks Kingchev. And thanks for the added info on Oshie. I love when folks who follow specific teams more closely than I do can come and add more info.

Just taking a glance, at the Berglund with Oshie thing it appears Berglund’s most productive lines the last two years have been those with Oshie but last year it was Berglund-Oshie-Steen combining for five points. That is like 10% of his total but five isn’t a whole lot. This year Berglund’s most productive line was Berglund-Oshie-Stewart producing just three points. Again this isn’t drastic so I’m curious, is Berglund literally playing better with Oshie or are you just going off these numbers?

It definitely fits though that Berglund works best while playing with playmakers.

Thanks tGr. I agree on Hitchcock. As I mention in the article, Hitch is the Blues’ superstar now. He doesn’t have them scoring but he has them winning.

Allow me to follow up on the Steen/McDonald thing. It’s true that McDonald and Berglund have hardly played together at even strength since early last season but they are still a primary pairing on the power play when McDonald is healthy. So Berglund has Steen with him a bunch at even strength and McDonald with him on the power play. Now that McDonald is hurt and Steen is manning the point on the other power play unit Berglund is left looking around for help and he’s getting none. More than anything my point was and is that this guy is no superstar. Berglund is not the driver of the offense; he needs help.

great write up... frustrating team for sure, but i think hitchcock can be as important for this team as any star player. they play as good of a team game as anyone in the league. and their top line of backes, steen and oshie is as good as any top line in the league. they might not put up premier points, but they are so defensively responsible, they pound you and they spend most of their shifts in the offensive zone. also, for what it is worth: berglund never really played with macdonald - not when he finally started to produce last year, anyways. last time they played together with consistency was when boyes was still on the team. macdonald always played with backes, stewart always played with berglund. - tGr

I drafted both of these guys to my farm team in my keeper league in our inagural prospect draft in 2006 as I am a huge blues fan, finally called up bergy last year in the second half when he was hot, kept him, obviously disapointed, but having watched all the games he is getting his chances he just can't finish. I also noticed that ironically enough Berglund has played his best over the last couple of years playing with Oshie. Osh is so pass first it gets annoying but recently he has been firing the shots off with more regluarity, and has averted from doing his patent toe drag shot after finally realizize that 80% of those ended up in the netting after the D man gets his stick on it. Thanks for shedding some light on this situation for me. keep the same team cage matches coming. - Kingchev
