Tampa = Babies

This is the same Tampa team who cried foul when Linus Omark did a spin-o-rama before picking up the puck at center ice on a shootout attempt.

Then, followed up with an eerily similar play by St.Louis a game later (though the spin-o-rama happened in front of the goalie which I guess makes it all right?).

And Downie is a clown. Not a lot of "class" running through his veins so I don't think he should be taking offense to anything out on the ice. - lcbtd

The celebration wasn't bad, but pointing at the goalie was.

Anisimov was very remorseful today. - Jeff Angus

What if the goalie was chirping him all game? Then he finally scores on him, and it's his proverbial f*ck you to Garon. Maybe Lecavalier said something about his mom on the faceoff? Who knows, point is it's entertaining and the act alone hurt no one. If anything I'd say Downie coming off the bench to punch someone in the head is probably worse. - Nate

Lost in the Anisimov goal is the fact that Teddy Purcell is one of the worst defensive forwards in the game. This guy is practically afraid to make contact with the opposing team. Hey Teddy - you are 6'-3"!!! Chop the stick out of Artem's hands! At least stay with him. You are 6'-3".

Random Fact for the Day:
Last year Teddy Purcell had less PIM (10 vs 12) and less Hits (21 vs 37) than MSL!

Teddy... you are 6'-3"!
(I hate Teddy Purcells - don't own him, any leagues) - Pengwin7

Chalk up Devante Smith-Pelley to play as well!

I can't remember the last time 2 NHL players were allowed by the parent NHL clubs to go to the World Juniors! Moreover, apparently its not out of the question either for Florida to release Erik Gudbranson as well! But lets not count our chickens before they hatch for a 3rd NHLer to join the team. Also the way I see it, Mark Scheifele, should Gudbranson also be released, would mark 4 players who have got into NHL action for the WJC squad. I gotta think that possibility would be unprecedented! Even three is gotta be up there.

~~~ Obviously the 04-05 lockout is excluded in that sentiment. That was just ridiculously amazing! Imagine a 19 year old Patrice Bergeron joining arguably the deepest WJC entry for any nation of all time, after already pocketing a full NHL season + nearly half an AHL season in the NHL's year off under his belt!!! - Anthony Lancione
Why Anisimov acted like that on a tap in/ routine goal is odd. When he directed his 'gun' @ the goalie- it went from celebration to taunting- and Tampa acted as they should have- except Downie who should get a 10 game ban for leaving the bench. IMO- this was worse than Ovies 'my stick is on fire' stupidity a few years back which was excessive,but not taunting. - Larry
I feel that the celebration is a situation comparison when looking at Anisimov's and Selanne's celebrations.
Selanne scored his 54th goal in his ROOKIE season, breaking the record, WHICH in my mind.. warrants a celebration of that nature. It's one of those moments where you can't contain yourself and one of those moments that MAY never happen again in this generation. He also was not making the gesture at any one particular player or team bench or anything, it was more comical and jovial.
Anisimov on the other hand... that was his 5th goal of the season, for a hot NYR team mind you. And sure, a celebration is fine in general, but to blatantly appear to be pointing in the direct vicinity of Garon and/or the defensemen around the net, seems a bit threatening.
Granted, we all have a pretty good idea that he meant nothing by the gesture, but regardless.. It's one of those situation moments where you have to be careful, this isn't the WWE where taunting is encouraged.
Let your play speak for itself and skate to your bench after a few pats on the head and act like you've scored before. - Kyle Kebert
This season, Eller played good hockey when he is a center, which won't prevent Jacques Martin from putting him back on the wing once Gomez comes back. I don't know if that was the case in Ottawa and Florida, but Jacques Martin don't mind punishing good young players in an effort to try to get veterans going. He broke the Pacioretty-Desharnais-Cole line that was doing so well to put Cammalleri in there and try to get him going.
Cammalleri is in a slump. If you can get video of his terrible shootout attempt, he definitely didn't look like a sniper. He's either still playing hurt, or he's looking for his confort zone.
Gionta left the game in the third period and didn't came back. No news yet on his injury. We'll probably learn during the day whether it's an upper or lower body injury. - Louis-Alexandre Jalbert
The goal celebration pissed off Lecavalier/Lightning because he turned and 'aimed' directly at Garon. Just disrespectful.
I dont understand why everyone has their panties in a bunch about the goal celebration? When he did the shooting was he pointing his stick right at someone? and even if he was, who cares! We need more personality and I agree with James below...NFL = No Fun League. - derek
