@Larry: My first point was that the projected number for Emelin was incorrect, and I decided to add projected numbers for all players (forward and defense) over 300. If you didn't find it relevant or useful, then please feel free to ignore the forwards on the list, and pick out just Fistric. - Ryan

Ryan-the Emelin/Yemelin? numbers were for defenseman hits, for a player we didnt know much about, the forward hits you mentioned arent really relevant to his blurb.
Gragnani's confidence is shot, not quite sure how it improves by being demoted...but atleast his errors dont hurt you, dont think they can bring up Morissonn though due to the cap. Gragnani has been tried at forward before, dont think he wants to try that again, his numbers werent stellar. - Larry

Don't understand the Fistric suspension, seemed like a clean hit to me? I only saw it once, but didn't see an issue. On a tragically similar note, my son who's just started hitting this year (11) asked me if they're taking hitting out of hockey. I said it looks that way. he was not happy! - Mike Brown

One of the goals: McBain from Kaberle and Faulk. Not too often you see three d-men on the stat line for a goal. - Repent Tokyo

Ehrhoff / Kassian

One reason the Sabres may be playing Ehrhoff more is that he's making TEN MILLION this season! I guess they want some bang for their buck, but I agree - he's been awful.

Jagr's goal last night has nothing on Kassian's. Quite similar, in fact. Unfortunately I don't have a video of it to show. - Robert Esquire

Actually, taking into account Fistric's 3 game suspension, he is actually on pace for 314 hits this season. - Ryan

Alexei Emelin hits pace
Montreal wrecking ball defenseman Alexei Emelin is on pace for over 300 hits. To put that total in perspective, Luke Schenn led all NHL defensemen with 251 hits last season. There were only seven defensemen with 200 or more hits in 2010-11.
I think you may want to check your math, because Emelin is actually on pace for 278 hits this season.

However, Matt Martin (371), Mark Fistric (327), Cal Clutterbuck (326), and Steve Ott (308) are all currently on pace to break 300 hits. - Ryan

Gragnani the next MA Bergeron?

Is Gragnani the next MA Bergeron/Greg Hawgood? A tease, but never quite enough in his own end? A future journeyman, bouncing from rebuild to rebuild?

I often wonder if this type of player shouldn't insist on becoming a winger, and re-organize their careers. The back 90' of ice just doesn't work out for them, and there is no disputing their puck skills. - Jocular Hockey Manager

The Bell Center is probably the most generous building for hits, give and takeaways.

If your league counts hits and such, you must consider that. - lusshouse

Not sure what to make of this news. Reports are he practice at full speed on Wednesday after sitting out Tuesday and he favored his knee after colliding hard with Kunitz in the Boston game. So is it his knee or his head this time? Shero is quoted in the article below:
