RE: PP TOI

I just use NHL.com. If you filter it through individual stats, then reports by Time on Ice, then filter it through PP TOI, it gives you the entire list. Only problem as Committedtotheindian said is that its yearly, so you can't entirely find trends of the last 10 games or last 5 games... - Ryan Ma

RE: Goli

For me it's two fold. I think it depends on what you want/expect from him.

If you're expecting a rate of 15 in 23 like he posted last year (53 point pace), then I think you need to sell or lower your expectations.

He posted those numbers while averaging 22:14 and 4:00 on the PP. With Richards being the stir stick of the Stars PP.

This season, it's fallen to 3:20 on the PP with the same overall TOI. Souray is also in the mix for PP time, and he's isn't the same playmaker to generate offense from the point as Richards was.

Don't get me wrong I still think he's good for 35-45 points, just that I wouldn't expect the crazy pace that he put up last campaign, which is why he was a sell for me. - Ryan Ma

PPTOI at a glance can be found in the Fantasy Tools section of the Hockey News site. Fantasy > Fantasy Tools/Stats, and then click on each conference under Power Plays. Shows PPTOI for the last five games and for the season for every player on each team.

Also, at NHL.com, click Stats > Individuals > Time On Ice. Shows TOI in every situation--even strength, power play and shorthanded. I like the Hockey News a little better because by breaking out the last five games it shows how PPTOI is trending. - CommittedToTheIndian

Hey Ryan,
I have always used TOI as an indicator of how good a defenseman is all-around. I used it to predict Doughty's breakout and think it's a ridiculously under used stat, even for forwards. I can usually find TOI for most players, but to this point haven't found a site that offers PPTOI. If you could provide a site or two showing where we could find this stat it would be a great help. - Stuart McDonald

I must agree with both Stone and mike - I would NOT sell Goli at this point in time.

That being said, I haven't seen much of his play this season. I will still, at minimum, wait for a nice little point streak to bring his numbers back to par before (considering) selling. - fajita123

Stone...have to agree with you...too early to sell especially with this low perception.

Great article and approach to finding value..... - mike hess

He's leading the team in PP time, on pace for 38 (not exciting, but not terrible) and is only trailing a generally fragile Souray. He's always been streaky. Hmmmm....

I know I'll be standing pat, since his value won't be this low again. I'd almost see him as a buy-low. He's currently disappointing owners, and that should be taken advantage of. - STONE.
