Thanks to all who commented. Definitely time to re-evaluate my self-indulgent openings. Could have definitely cut the article down like 500 words. Thought it was funny, maybe it wasn't or maybe I just need to be more concise. In any case, my apologies for the length. - steve laidlaw

Good article Steve but man the length of it was daunting. I had to return four times to finish it.

I love the Kovy vs Nash cagematch though! - Dean Youngblood

The opening of this article is moronic. It really ruins an otherwise good player analysis.

Interesting comparison. Too bad it's wrapped in a crappy article. - David

aleco83 - I think over time you will see these articles transitioning towards the inclusion of hits as a category but most of my leagues are still the standard 6x4 setup with PIM as the only source of meat and potatoes. If you were to switch out PIM for hits that would give Nash the advantage in a second category and a 2-1 lead in this Cage Match but I'd still be skeptical about putting him head and shoulders over Kovalchuk.

Man not Puck - I don't think anyone questions Nash's defensive ability any more. Hitchcock really worked him over and turned him into one of the better two-way forwards in the league. The real issue for Nash is that his team still sucks so it's not like his plus/minus is going to be good, he just won't be the liability in this category that Kovalchuk is. - steve laidlaw

Couldn't help feeling the tone in the first third of the article. Still, one of the best comparisons I've read yet.

What Rick Nash fan doesn't feel some pain right now though? Guy puts the team on his shoulders almost every night. Must get heavy after a while. - Man not Puck

I think Nash is a much better defensive player than people give him credit for. This is why he will always own the +/- category over Kovalchuk. - Man not Puck

With the intro of Hits as a category in many leagues and its growing prominence it seems the edge would go to Nash. - aleco83
