playoffs?

Hey Ian, I think I might have confused you in that paragraph. My fault. What I actually meant by that is that they will have to battle like hell to make the playoffs (don't actually see that happening), and I mentioned how they don't actually have a playoff track record nor have they been there anytime recently. What I think they'll do is not finish at the very bottom, but not actually qualify for the playoffs unless they pull out a Herculean effort (which I don't actually see happening). Personally, I think they are going to be improved from last year and finish around 10th or 11th, not 15th. - Tim Lucarelli

i agreed with your assessments until you got to the end and you hinted that they would have to battle like hell to make the playoffs. i don't see ANY way whatsoever that this team makes the playoffs. there's a good chance that they'll fight for last place if you ask me. the offense isn't there, the D is improved but still has a long way to go and Theodore is will see so much rubber he'll think he's working in a condom factory. ok maybe the last analogy doesn't make it but still this team is going to be really bad. - Ian Fergusson

Thanks Tim...hope he will fight his way up to the 2nd line by the end of the season :) Last season just before that bad injury he looked really good. - Lukas Polak

Matthias

Matthias was one of the last guys to actually make the team, and the general consensus has him centering either the third or fourth line, likely fighting Marcel Goc. I believe Florida has their top four centers penciled in (to start the year) as Weiss, Kopecky, Goc, Matthias. He really needs to earn his way up and prove that he deserves more ice time. I love the guy, but he has his work cut out for him.

He had only one point (assist) in four games, four SOG, five PIM, and was a -1. He did take the fourth-most faceoffs on the team (32), winning 65.6%, a higher winning percentage than anyone who took more than 5 faceoffs for the Panthers. - Tim Lucarelli

What about Matthias? Where he will probably start, 3rd line? And how did he look like? - Lukas Polak

Versteeg

Does no one like Versteeg? Tallon must like him, since he did sign him in Chicago and now he's in Florida. 45-50 points this season. - Ed

Huberdeau

@Seb, I completely agree. I think Huberdeau could certainly use a bit more muscle on his frame and dominating another year of junior won't hurt one bit. - Tim Lucarelli

Upshall

@keytolife, no I am not positive that Upshall owns a top six spot. I was going off of the lines in the article that I quotes, which even mention that it could be a variation of those lines. If I were Dineen, I'd play Dadonov over Upshall every single game...I get the feeling that Upshall will start there, but Dadonov is certainly a better player for a top-six role. - Tim Lucarelli

Good call by Tallon to send Huberdeau back for a year. He needs 10-12 lbs of muscle and dominating the World Juniors wont hurt his confidence either. Drafted him in my keeper pool. Def protecting him next year. - Seb Seguin

Tim are you sure that Upshall owns his top six spot? All i was hearing it´s Evgeni Dadonovs spot to lose. - keytolife
