I said he "could" be a solid backup this season but I meant if the situation presented itself. The fact that he played so well in the Calder Cup and the fact that he's stated on the record that he thinks he could do Anderson's job leads me to believe he is ready to pay in the NHL. He's an elite prospect and if one of Ottawa's goalies go down I wouldn't be surprised to see him move up, albeit temporarily. - Stuart McDonald

Lehner

Lehner is unlikely to be a 'solid backup' this season. He certainly impressed as Calder Cup MVP, but he stole that job in the postseason and the Senators will certainly prefer to see him carry the load as a full-season starter in Binghampton rather than rot on the bench in Ottawa. Auld wasn't brought in to play in the AHL, either, but specifically because Lehner would be starting there and Anderson needed an authentic career backup.
