Great scouting tips.
One thing to add might be where/how somebody can do their own scouting.

The time when we most need to make a differentiation between players is at the start of season drafts.

NHL.com has lots of video for player highlights. It is a great place to go and watch players goals/assists to determine if players are getting their points through skill or lucky bounces. Is a player getting an assist because he took a bad shot that rebounded to the perfect spot - or - was it a beautiful tape-to-tape pass for a buddy-tap into a yawning cage?

Great work here!

Nice write up and good advice. There are also a few books kicking out there that give insight to scouting for hockey for those who want to get into more detail. Reading them helped me evaluate prospects in a different light as I now look for certain criteria as you've listed above and also for key words in scouting reports also as you've listed above. Put this together and I now find myself going to more CHL games to check out potential players for my fantasy team. Crazy but it's alot of fun! Most other GMs in my fantasy league don't look for or see the same things and now that's my edge;) - Wannabe Scout
