Heh, hate to break this to you, but Dalpe plays about 90% at the center position ;) Rutherford has already said that Carolina plans to play him with Skinner and Ruutu next year and (at least in my eyes) he's too good to fail in that position.

I get what you're saying that he might get sent down, but he has little left to prove at the AHL level. If he gets sent down, it will be to light a fire under his ass, in which case he gets called up again pretty swiftly. Just look at Carolina's top 12 guys, who they've signed, etc.

Skinner - Staal - Ruutu
Jokinen - Dalpe - LaRose
Poni - Sutter - Stewart
Tlusty - Brent - Dwyer

The wingers in the top six are interchangeable but there is really no one in the bottom six who is clearly a better top six option compared to Dalpe. It's his spot to lose. - sentium

To further your point, Stu, Jeffrey's new deal is two-way 11-12, one-way 12-13.

@Rob. I don't think Desharnais is a bad player at all and he may well produce, however, I'll admit to being biased against small players. I wouldn't touch Gerbe for the same reason.
@Sentium. Me putting Ennis at Center shows why I'm a prospects writer and not an NHL writer. My bad. As for Dalpe, I do think he'll see some time in the AHL, guarantee or not. Granted the Hurricanes are thin on the right side, but unless there is a major injury to Larose, Skinner or Stewart, Dalpe will spend some time in the minors. Stewart finally showed something last season and the 'Canes will give him every chance to prove it again. Either way, it's risky to expect top-six numbers from Dalpe this season. - Stuart McDonald

Not bad for a guy (Desharnais) who wasnt even considered at the begining of the year, I think he will surprise you all again this year , if Martin could only give him a solid chance on the PP like he did near the end of last year , I said it here a while b ack this guy is for real........... even though hes small :) - Rob Verhelle

Ennis plays wing in the NHL and Dalpe has already been pretty much assured an NHL roster spot by Carolina management. - sentium
