Yes, his production went up after Kaberle left town but it also coincided with him finally getting back to 100% health. Add to that the fact that Kaberle was the only remaining vetern from the pre-Burke era and there was some speculation that Kaberle's prescence had an effect on Phaneuf. I agree that this move was unnecessary but I don't think the price was that high. @Rob Myatt - that Finger comment was a gem! They are now over 20M below the floor, with 13 players already signed and 9 RFAs none of whom except David Jones should command above 2M and most shouldn't command above 1.5M. Unless thay plan a monster contract for Vokoun, they'll struggle to reach the floor, with Stastny on board.
