in looking at the Prime Cuts rosters from the past, I notice that Sidney Crosby has never made the team. interesting... surely he would have had he played a full season this year i suppose - thunderbay35

Great list, and interesting perspective. Like the logic used.

Wisniewski/Giordano are decent, but I would prefer the 3/4 dmen from Canucks (Edler over Giordano, and Bieksa over Wisniewski) assuming Ehrhoff/Hamhuis top pairing.

Keep up the great work - Zammer

I agree with most of these for sure.. I would have put Kesler as the 2nd line Centre myself. But cant go wrong with Giroux tho - sheldon

Rino - Green and Parise weren't who they are today back in 2007. I select the teams to be "somewhat" realistic. Obviously Claude Giroux is a top line talent. Giordano is a top pairing d-man on the Flames.

This isn't meant to be an All-Star team - read the first paragraph. I want to highlight successful fantasy seasons for players of all roles/types/skill levels. - Jeff Angus

I must miss the point... a 'realistic hockey team' for a 'fantasy team' - I did not read anything about a salary cap. (his 07'-'08 selection has malkin, parise, ovechkin, lidstrom , green, etc - I suppose you think that is realistic?) - Rino Chiuso

Great picks

Great article, great picks, love your work Jeff

I had 9 out of 20, I got mostly the top 2 lines and the top pairing D, the others are tough to guess. I had Luongo and Crawford in net, Thomas and Schneider were like my 2nd choice.

Rino, you really miss the point, this is a realistic hockey team with a full line-up,including bottom pairing and fourth-liners, not an all-star team. - Martin Cloutier

I realize it's easy to be a critic and that these players are not chosen to win a cup but some of these picks are lacking some common sense if your looking to build a top fantasy squad....here are mine..

Daniel Sedin -Sidney Crosby -Corey Perry

Alex Ovechkin -Steven Stamkos-Patrick Sharp

Rick Nash- Jonathan Toews -Henrik Zetterberg

Milan Lucic- Ryan Getzlaf -Jarome Iginla

Keith Yandle-Dustin Byfuglien

Shea Weber -Kris Letang

P.K. Subban -Drew Doughty

Tim Thomas

Michal Neuvirth
- Rino Chiuso

Its interesting that Crosby has never been a Prime Cut, especially last year. - Atomic Wedgy

Great post!

Couple of fun questions... What is the Caphit of the team?

If the four teams played in a Final 4 of 2011vs08 and 2010vs09... Who would win each matchup in a best of seven series and which of the winners would win it all? - Austin

great read, couldnt agree more with the selections. although something tells me that 12 claude giroux's would do a decent job at winning games too ;) - praba
