After how Crawford played last night I would have to say it is his job to lose next year. I would pick him up in a heart beat if I am able. - Ryan Lenethen

They will resign Crawford, as a RFA I dont think he would draw an offer sheet, and the Hawks will have about 8-10million cap space (cap should go up 1-2.5mil). Whomever there backup is- i wouldnt expect them to earn more than 1mil.
They need 5forwards,1dmen(no way John Scott is their #6 dman) and 2 goalies(for a 22 man roster)- but most of those spots will be filled @ minimum wage.
Salak may have been signed for 1.3-but thats only at the NHL level. Not sure what he made in Europe- but getting paid $1mil all year playing in the NHL probably sounds pretty good- and may even be a pay raise. - Larry

I have no idea how they can sign Crawford and stay under the cap limit. This year they were capped out and they spent 0.8 mil on Crawford and 1.3 mil on Turco. Next year, Seabrook gets a 2.3 mil raise. They are only 8 mil under the cap and they need to find a way to replace/sign Kopecky, Frolik, Brouwer, Campoli, Turco and six other RFAs or UFAs. Heck, even Salak had a 1.3 mil contract this year - so I'm not sure what sort of discount he'd sign for.

I think it would be great if they could re-sign Crawford, but I have no idea how they are going to do it unless they can move Hossa, Sharp or Campbell. They seem unwilling to move Hossa and Sharp. Campbell isn't worth his contract, so nobody will take him. Looks to me like there is a proverbial rock on one side and a hard place on the other. Unfortunately, Crawford will be the victim here. Hopefully I'm wrong.
