BHawks fan- go to many games...
Skille plays well in a 4th line/energy role. He's skated at times on the top 2 lines this year... and looked horribly out of place. Also finds himself out of position defensivley quite often, ESPECIALLY when he's on the ice against top 6 forwards.

How does Salak stack up against Hannu Toivonen? He's supposedly the heir apparent in net, right now. Will replace Turco (most likely after this season), could challenge Crawford next year or at least be the backup. Also the safety valve in case Crawford gets too pricey. That's how he's been viewed here to this point. I don't know anything about Salak to make a comparison.

I've seen Frolik enough to be excited by the deal. We've been lacking a #2/3 (depending on what you consider Dave Bolland) center. I think he'll get a chance in that role. Put Hossa and Brouwer on his wings and who knows? - Wink

I always try to resist the temptation to criticize a new GM that targets prospects from his previous team. As a Calgary fan, the best move Sutter ever made was to acquire Kipper after leaving San Jose.

That said, this looks like an awesome deal for Chicago and if I was a Crawford owner, I'd be worried. Now if he demands a large raise during the off-season, they can use the same approach they used with Niemi. If they are starting Turco to try to increase his trade value, now they have a legitimate backup for Crawford. - Mabus

Angus,

Any guess on what the addition of Frolik will do to Chicago's lines? Saw Shapie was put on the top line last night and am wondering if that will stick or if they'll get shuffled again... - Let' s Go Rangers

- Repik got sent down to the AHL so, while the move does help Repik in the long-term, I don't see any short-term benefits
- brutal deal overall for Florida, but I'm thinking that Tallon has a big Pierre-on for Pacan (a 6'3" that was drafted out of the CJHL, played NCAA hockey but is now with Niagara of the OHL)
- maybe Jessiman actually has a shot of getting called up as a 4th liner now?
- Florida they got rid of their main streaky players (Grabner - for nothing, albeit, Horton, and now Frolik) so perhaps they're looking for consistent players
- something tells me Florida's not done (Versteeg from Toronto, maybe?)
- Reasoner might see more offensive minutes after putting on a little bit of a hot run earlier in the year - studley49

This trade give Salak a huge boost in value! He was behind Vokun and Markstrom.....now......Crawford and Turco? Salak could easily be a better starting goaltender than Crawford and Turco's days are numbered. - Kris

I'll reiterate my thoughts from last night. This is a pathetic trade for Florida, and I am thankfully that they have given away via trade or flat out waived many of the players I really like that were on their team. I'm happy that I will no longer find myself pulling for this disgraceful franchise. So unfortunate, I really feel bad for Florida fans. - Kraftster

Can you see Salak challenging Crawford next season? Would he be the next in line at this point? - Ryan
