from where I sit, the problem in San Jose is on the blueline not up front. If this is tinkering then its not going to change anything. BUT if its a forerunner of a trade to come where los tiburones deal a forward for a defenseman then all bets are off.

Don Maloney has extra defenseman in PHX to offer. Hello san jose anyone home ? - paul

SJ did just claim Wellwood, probably to play 3rd line minutes. That could add the skill to the 3rd line that Eager needs to get some points. - r22yu

Not a bad deal for both teams, but Clowe will not end up on the 3rd line. The chemistry that Clowe, Pavelski and Couture have developed on the 2nd line is too great to break up now. On most nights, the Sharks 2nd line plays more effectively than their first line does.

I could see a line of Ferreiro, Mitchell & Eager possibly taking shape though.

Don't want Pengwin7 to feel like a lone voice in the Eager wilderness, so I'll add that he did a nice job filling his role with the Hawks. Came to the defense of his teammates whenever the situation called for it, and as I recall, most of the few goals he scored were surprisingly timely.

Still not fantasy relevant, of course. Go Hawks! ;) - CommittedToTheIndian

Eager fell very, very quickly out-of-the-picture after two extreme acts of goonery here in the ATL. The first was a fight against Carolina on Dec. 16th. While the penalty didn't result in a PP, 10min misconducts require coaches to shuffle their lines a bit. Atlanta was up 2-0, and lost 3-2. Eager was a deserved goat. The second was a completely stupid couple shots he took at Phaneuf on Jan. 7th. The game was tied 1-1 at the time and then the Laffs scored on the PP to go up 2-1... and then eventually 9-1.

Eager has zero fantasy value. He has 62pts in 289games - and that is a point every 4.5games... which he will be lucky to post in SJ (a team with very little 3rd/4th line scoring talent). Additionally, he'll be on better behaviour considering his previous PIM results.

And I realize, I'll probably be the only comment here.
Go Thrashers!;) - Pengwin7
