Trivia: Many of you will remember Neil Smith being hired in '06 and fired before the season even began. The other is indeed Howie Meeker. Way back (before my time, for all you smart-asses out there) in 1957, Toronto moved Meeker from Head Coach to GM and then fired him before he served even one game in that capacity.

Jacques - Thanks for the info on Bogo - I did not know he had been nursing/dealing with something. I do agree that he can produce without PP1 time, but that has to limit his upside at least this season. I am very high on his upside. - Russ Miller

Trivia Question: I think I heard this broadcast during a game recently. Seems to me that the other one was Howie Meeker ? - Calvin

Between this and Ma's article, it seems almost half my players are listed. No wonder I am struggling in all my leagues this year except one. And in the one league I am contending in, I have Kovalchuk (my first pick), Shea Weber, and Erik Johnson. Just imagine if they were performing up to standard. If any of those three players can play like they are supposed to in the 2nd half of the season, I can possibly win that one league. In all my other leagues, I am so far behind that even if my struggling players turn it around, it is already too late.

Thanks for the good article. - SeaDawg

You are wrong about bogosian. Part of his struggles have been due to injury, he's heating up now after some recovery time. he has had periods where he has excelled in the past without PP1 time and should again especially now that the team is better. excellent buy low candidate in keeper leagues. - jaques ouef

Good Article Russ.

Trivia question. I know Neil Smith is one of the GM's you're talking about. The Islanders hired him in the summer of 2006 and fired him 6 weeks later. As for the other GM, I have no idea. - Ben
