I actually got him on my RR draft. He was my 2nd pick. I know I was somewhat astounded to get him. My first pick was Mathieu Perreault. I had both those players in my top 10 (top 8 really), and only expected to get one. I am glad I got them both. So while my team blows this year (Injuries are killing me), at least next year I have some fresh blood. - Ryan Lenethen

I must be one of the few who owns him since the 2009-2010 pre-season draft... :P So proud on that one!!

But thanks to Dobber's guide and that I'm a huge Colorado fan!

Kevin isn't anymore of a Greenwich, CT native than his brother Keith is a London, England native...that's just where the hospital they were conceived at the time was located...Eric, Keith, and Kevin are all born in three different places (their father is an ivestment banker), but they are all actually New Rochelle, NY natives so you might want to edit that. - MT319

Hey Brent- thanks for the name drop- lol! Totally made my night-my gf thinks Im a dork- but secretly she is turned on by my fierce powers of deduction and vast hockey knowledge!

Its funny I was currently in talks to shop him- but I havent got the same response(Datsyuk- thats nuts!!!). The best offer I got was Olli Jokinen and a decent pick! Its great to see him getting some respect. I agree his production/trajectory may have been positively affected by Colorados style and philosiphy- but at least in this case its been very successful. Great article- thanks! - Fighting Emu

Agreed with Duklanation - if he was with say Detroit he'd still be AHL. Would probably still turn out a great player (maybe better - who knows), but Colorado are one franchise that will give a kid a chance now. Kinda nice to see. - Alun

His success has lot to do with the team's style. ie. coach will actually play a young player. If Shattenkirk was on another team, he'd still be in the AHL or in the press box. - DuklaNation

I picked up Shattenkirk initally at our draft thanks to a combination of Dobber's top 215 prospects list and an insider tip from a friend who had seen him play. Now the rest of my poolies think I'm some kind of a savant (clearly I'm not as I also have Kovalchuk). Keep it up Captain Kirk!!!! - Alun
