@Jason No problem, it's what I like about this website and the Internet in general. I should also have thanked you for your feedback and for adding to the debate with some great info on what Adam's coach thinks of him. - Ryan Van Horne

@Van Horne: Thanks for the reply! I like Adam quite a bit, so maybe I'm being unrealistic. He's certainly an interesting player. To me, he seems like the kind of guy who will over-achieve and surprise his critics. Thanks again for your reply! - jason

Comparisons and upside

@jason My comparison to Glen Murray or Dave Andreychuk -- who had a 53-goal, 99-point dream season alongside Doug Gilmour -- were more about playing style than about upside. I could be wrong about Adam's upside -- and I certainly won't cheer against him just so that I'm right -- I don't think he's going to be as good as Murray or Andreychuk. So, having said that, his career year won't be as productive as their career years.

Having said that, I constantly re-evaluate prospects while they're still in the developmental stage because they all develop at different rates. Adam is only 20 and still has plenty of time to develop. - Ryan Van Horne

@Ryan Van Horne, I believe you are significantly underestimating Adam's offensive upside. I think 35-30 is pretty "realistic" outcome. But according to Dobber, the upside predictions on this site are about how the player could do in a career year, dream season (e.g. ideal situation, perfect line-mates). Based on Dobber's definition, Luke Adam, clearly has 40-40 upside, or perhaps better (if he settles into a "dream season" with the right line-mates). Perhaps you are being conservative and underestimating Adam because he is a late-bloomer, and because previous scouting reports have been very critical of his upside. The fact is, Adam's skating has improved a lot (his current AHL coach likened Adam's skating style to that of Marion Hossa). From what I have read, Adam is a very hard worker, and he has raised his potential through hard work and dedication to improving his game. If we are talking about his dream season upside, it is much more than 35-30. Like you mentioned, Luke Adam compares to Glen Murray. Well, although Glen Murray was generally a 30/30 player, his career year was 44G,48A=92pts. - jason

I hope there is nice future for goalie on the picture, too....not a perfect start to the season in ECHL, but he is talented goalie and his numbers from a couple of starts last season in AHL look promising ;) - Michal Smida
