RE: Liles

It was posted yesterday before yesterday's game, but yeah he's been slumping a bit. Probably not on fire anymore, but I wanted to highlight the difference between him and Quincey. Quincey pretty much has no value anymore especially with the concussion. Liles pretty much has the full reigns as the number 1 D in Colorado. I don't think anyone was going to confuse Liles with Mike Green, he just isn't that type of player, but as Dobber mentioned, a 50 point season probably would have been much more than what a lot of poolies at the beginning of the season would have projected for him... The player you really need to keep an eye on is Holos. I've been really impressed with him! - Ryan Ma

RE: Chicago

I think there's a little bit of room for improvement... Hossa missed a few games, so once he comes back full-time it'll provide a bit of a boost to the rest of the team. (Just looking at Kopecky for instance, 8 points with Hossa in the lineup, 1 without). The main guy I'm looking for a big improvement on is from Bolland. I know he's been banged up this year, but he's better than a 0.25 point-per-game guy. Also Campbell has been hurt, and Keith/Seabrook had to shoulder a lot of the load...

So I mean nothing huge, I don't think they'll hit the 3.20 that they had last year, I mean their team is completely changed, so it's a bit unrealistic to assume that they can just mosey on and produce the same stats with a completely different team. But I think they're still a 3.00 goal per contest average team...

If you really think about it the difference between a 2.82 goal team from a 3.00 goal team at the end of the year is 15 more goals, I mean not a massive difference really... - Ryan Ma

Ryan, was the publishing of this article delayed? Liles is cannot be considered to be on fire. He hasn't scored a point in 5 games. - Atomic Wedgy

Good read and thorough, as usual. However, with Sharp, Kane, Hossa and Toews all right around point-per-game, where's Chicago's room for improvement? I could see it if those big guns were off to slow starts, but unless Versteeg, Ladd and Byfuglien magically reappear to provide more secondary scoring, I think WYSIWYG from the Hawks. - CommittedToTheIndian
