RE: Schneider/Luongo

Yeah I dunno tough call, IMO the Nucks are better off resting Luongo and keeping him fresh for the playoffs. The Nucks are a quality team, they don't need to give Luongo 70 starts when they have a perfectly capable backup in Schneider who can play in 15-20 to keep Luongo fresh.

Out of the 16 teams that made the playoffs last year, 10 of them had number 1 goalies which had more than 54 starts (9 had 63+). 6 of which were knocked off in the first round... 3 more knocked out in the second round... and then Nabby knocked out in the third.

Certainly the team has something to do with it, but something tells me that there's a link between games played and playoff success... maybe someone can look up the details... - Ryan Ma

RE: Rask/Thomas

I'm only the Western Guru... Bos is Russ' territory.

But if you want my two cents. I think it's going to be similar to SJ's situation, where it's just going to swing back and forth all season long. Thomas is playing too well for them to not give him starts. We have to keep in mind that the "real" NHL doesn't care about fantasy owners. They don't entirely care where players are drafted. They care about 1 thing and one thing only which is winning.

As long as they're winning they won't care that Rask was the 7th overall goalie picked in Yahoo! drafts.

When Thomas gets into a slump, they'll slot Rask back in to change the momentum, when Rask inevitably slumps, they'll slot Thomas back in.

That's the "real-life" positive of having two capable number 1 goaltenders. Bad for fantasy hockey owners trying to predict starts, but great for the "real-life" team. - Ryan Ma

Lol... and just like that... an article comes out which perfectly supplements justin's last article (posted only a day or two ago) in every way that the critics of it (in his comments) could have wanted.

This is exactly what makes this site so great, and exactly why it (and it's writers) shouldn't ever change. - lanky522

Looks like Schneider will not get an appearance in all of the back to back pairings this year as Left Wing Lock is showing Luongo will get the start again tonight after last nights shutout. - AL

Love the read Ma! Music to my ears for some of my goalies and sad news for others... Although, as an owner of CGY's back in two leagues, I didn't know Erik Karlsson played in goal :D.
