I remember reading about Dean Lombardi criticizing U of Michigan for their lack of developing players (re: Jack Johnson). Might be a little hypocritical? Unless, Stevie Y can help steer Purcell's talents in the right direction. If Yzerman can't do that who can? If not well Purcell would not be the first player to excell at the AHL level then flounder in the NHL. Sort of reminds me on what has happened to another ex-LA player Brian Boyle. He did well in his last full season in the AHL then rides the pine in LA before being traded to the Rangers.
