Okay, then he's not Druce :) I don't think he'll hit 40 next year. I think he'll go back to being a turnover machine who doesn't put in any effort. Bottom line is, the smart thing to do is still to sell high :) - sentium

Without looking it up, I'm pretty certain Druce got 40-50 points after his big playoff as well. So your point about him being a Druce holds.

I think there is more to it. Coaching matters. Leino is off to Europe if Babcock is his coach still. But with this coach, he thrives. You just saw the difference in Voracek over in Columbus when they changed coaches. Leino will at least be a Druce, but there could be more to it. - Dobber

Briere looks great back at C. He needs puck on his stick to be effective, and just wasn't getting it enough on the wing. - angus

Hyper-as was mentioned on Hockey Central @ Noon today, it may be as simple as Briere playing at Centre again rather than RW. Sounds like he is just more comfortable @ C then the wing. And we all know how far comfort goes for a pro athelete. - Tony

I just don't get it how someone can suck royally for a whole year and change, come to a new team, get benched because he's lazy and then someone flips a switch and suddenly he's scoring like it's nobody's business. He's on a hot streak. He was the biggest giveaway machine in the world with Detroit and lost his roster spot to Drew Miller, Patrick Eaves, Brad May, Kirk Maltby and Jason Williams. He displayed no effort whatsoever.

So yes, there is a miniscule chance that he continues next year and scores 40-50 points or something, but this run will make him just as unreasonably overhyped as last offseason, when everyone and their mother said that he was the next big thing. If I'm a Leino owner, I'm selling high on him right now, before people realize that he's not good. My friend has him and I will advise him to sell high on him. That's the only sensible thing to do. - sentium

Briere doesn't lead the playoff's in goals, Cammalleri does... Still.
PPG perhaps?

Although Briere's 24 pts are almost half as much as his 53 reg season points.

How do you go from 57pt pace to 98pt pace so quickly? - HyperScythe

Interesting comment Sentium and you may be right. But this is why I tend to disagree. Druce was a goalscorer who relied on linemates and and a few lucky breaks. Whereas Leino is more of a setup man and his linemates seem to be relying on him. But by this time next year we'll know for sure. - Dobber

Don't get me started on the backroom deals going on regarding Phoenix. I think that they'll soon let a guy play out the 3rd period in his bare-feet and call him "Skateless Joe" and move the team to Chicago. Hey wait, isn't Reinsdorf from there?

I hope the Finals continue to be big scoring affairs. I think that it will open the game up more with two teams not named Pittsburgh and Washington to have a high scoring series and really open the game up like in the 80s and very early 90s. Also Toews should be a lock for Conn Smythe if CHI wins. Niemi has been good, but has not really stolen a game in my opinion, but very solid nonetheless. Toews has been dramatically good. I also think that it does service to the game to have a guy that is not goalie or a league leading scorer to be rewarded for stepping up and leading his team the way Toews has.

Leino reminds me of Jason Allison. Big guy without huge mobility, but very good skills and smart thinking in the O-zone. That guy was chased out of the league early I think. Too bad. Leino may be slightly more shifty, but it just reminds me of the style of play. (I may have hit my head) - Jon Dey

Of course he won GM of the Year. He's on the NHL's payroll! Nobody else even had a chance! ;) - Tony
