Of course there's a difference. If a player plays 95% of the time at one position, it's pretty easy to say that he plays that particular position. That's the case for the vast majority of NHLers. They have clear roles, but they are obviously also capable of filling some other roles if the team needs it. Plus, I'm willing to bet a lot of money that the vast majority of hockey fans would answer yes to the question "is there a difference between centers and wingers?". - sentium

Mario played wing for a few years with Jagr and Francis. Malkin often plays the wing with Sid. You're OTL if you think there's a difference. - BGJ

I've never been in a league that DIDN'T make a difference between centers and left/rightwingers. The line is definitely not blurry between the two. - sentium

Backstrom has more value than Stamkos. Sorry.

And why the spliting up of centres? Do people actually have legues where it's wingers and cetremen? The line is so blurry between the two..just goo with forwards. - BGJ

"the most he had played in any given season before was 79."

Unless I am completely out to lunch, that sentence makes sense! - angus

Man, I just love what Mike Richards can still do at his age. Talk about longevity and the ability to produce, now that he's over 79. :P

All kidding aside Angus, I really do love this series of articles. - Woodrow

Koivu, Zajac, could be there.

Marleau was an oversight, I'll toss him in the HM's tomorrow. - angus

Well it is damned hard to argue with someone else's ranking list but a bit of a jaw dropper for me that Mikko Koivu isn't worthy of an honorable mention. Kinda surprising also that Marleau makes neither this nor your LW list.

Anyway, I have thoroughly enjoyed this series, Angus - feeds the FHists maw in a slow time. - Shoeless

draft order

I think the point about lots of centers is true. What is the best draft order. I have always followed goalie, left wing, defense, right wing and then center as an order. Your point about good right winds getting scarce may require a change here; especially with all the D talent coming into the league. Once I have the top spots filled; I can look at who is available. I see few trades in my keeper leagues; they are always over priced. - mike hess

Yay, Z as center for the Wings :D

There are a shitload of good centers to own in fantasy hockey... the tricky stuff is to fill the winger slots. But this list is a good start. I think I'd put Spezza in Tavares' slot because he's established and Tavares is still a bit of an unknown quantity, but overall, I like it. - sentium
